There is a bright line between writing, which I gladly do, and which I fully embrace, and sexually assaulting someone, which is a violent crime.

We wrote too much. We liked to write. You know, we... whatever the chart says, a word/page count chart.

Laying across the sofa up in the loft, watching music videos, live concerts from the 80’s and 90s, work expanding to fill time. I got time. Frank Zappa. A documentary about the Beach Boys. Peter ...

change of speed in Morning Stream

Today is grocery pick-up day again. Good timing, as we ran out of milk yesterday afternoon. The last time I drove the car was a week ago Tuesday when I picked up our last week’s supply. Today is...

Bei Ping Inn in Long story, short

There’s a little guesthouse in Houwan, Hengchun called the Bei Ping Inn. The Bei Ping Inn is on the main road, right across from the Maanshan Nuclear Power Plant. If you are on the bus, you have ...

Remember that dress that was all over the internet a year ago. Did you see a blue and black dress or a white and gold dress? It was one or the other. It does not matter which, not to me. I don’t ...

the curve in Morning Stream

Some people are ahead of the curve and some people are behind the curve but at least everyone now knows that there is a curve. Last Sunday, we ordered groceries online from the local store. It’s...

30 30 in Morning Stream

Last summer, I think it was June, I decided that I was going to write 750 words every morning. That was a good 30-day challenge. 300 words is easy. 750 words can be really tough, especially if yo...

I’m stopping myself from further watching the shambolic bonanza of incompetence rolling out nightly in the White House press room. I’ll miss my own comedic response, alone in my “man loft” at the...

From the beginning I’ve felt like I’ve been a head of the curve on this thing, an early adopter, a few steps ahead of the early majority, a week and a half ahead of the late majority, a full gall...

I watch live web cams of city streets and wildlife and train tracks, lots of trains going by at seemingly random times. I have the live cams on one of my monitors, mostly forgotten. I might be in...

ten years later in Morning Stream

Ten years ago when I was a soccer dad, I had a circle of people who I got to know fairly well. It was the only time that I was ever in my life part of a group. Even then I wasn’t a core member. I...

Monday. Snowed overnight. Winter again. The hopefulness of spring has disappeared. We order groceries online. They will be ready for pick up tomorrow morning between 10 and 11am. We debated all...

BuJo in Morning Stream

Funny when I started writing again this month it was just a 30-day challenge. I like to start the month with goals - goals to do things, trackable things, not not to do things. I’m bad with limi...

Silent spring in Morning Stream

Yesterday’s rant was very negative. I’m sorry about that. I’m not usually quite as negative. What started as a thought about those who think this is a conspiracy or just media hype and those who ...

fill your wagon in Morning Stream

In normal times, it’s not unusual for me, when listening to someone talk, think to myself, “this person is an idiot.” I’m not mean about it or smug or cocky. I don’t have a superiority complex. I...

soup and crackers in Morning Stream

I haven’t been motivated to do much of anything for the past seven days. I’ve been in a bit of a funk, adjusting to an even more solitary life than I usually lead. I get up with the sun and look...

Taiwan closes its borders overnight to all foreigners. It is a safe zone. My oldest, flying out of Vietnam, got in under the wire, three hours to midnight and is now living under 14 days of quara...

Delicto in Morning Stream

A week ago Monday, I quit the gym. I do it every year. My membership is usually 3 to 6 months depending on the weather, how busy the rodeo is and if I am in country. I get lots of exercise in the...

Delhi in Morning Stream

My local library sent me an email saying that they will be closed till mid-April. Don’t worry about late charges. Don’t worry about anything. Just stay away. Stay back you vermin. My dentist sent...

I can’t wiggle out of my meeting so I go. I’m so freaked out. It is uncharacteristic for me to be so uneven, unbalanced, unreasonable. Usually I am the calm voice of reason, happy to chime in wh...

Now it’s coronavirus all day, all the time. I sip white wine and re-watch Contagion. I’ve always liked movies about dystopian futures. This was a good one. Also, I like movies where the big star...

I put away the chicken bones and then open a window to clear away some of the smoke. I go downstairs and put on a pair of pants and then a hoodie and an old cap. In the car, I feel that traffic o...

Tom Hanks? Really. Wow, this is getting serious. So the news is not good, but not unexpected. Too late. Too little. Too little, too late. It’s been like hearing and then watching a summer thunder...

Td w/ Cv in Morning Stream

There are two schools of thought, the cautious and the not. I suppose we will see in a few weeks who is the silliest. I’m voting for the not. Why not err on the side of caution? I start my day l...

Rain today. I’m glad I was out yesterday for a couple of good long walkabouts. I return a book to the library. It was a one week fast read loaner so I don’t have to go in for any more (as I alw...
