Sabrina-Belle ⋅ 71

I live with my husband, John, younger son, Tony & 3 cats in a village in South Herefordshire UK. Our elder son, Chris, is in Hereford and our daughter, Cat, in Cardiff. I love writing short stories and poetry, am working on my autobiography. Also love music, play guitar and sing, enjoy gardening, family history and travel when I can. We bought our cottage for the view 36 years ago. It's in a terrace of five, part way up a hill overlooking the village, the Black Mountains & the Golden Valley.

Tout comprendre, c’est tout pardonner. - To understand all is to forgive all.

It was my birthday on Sunday. I am now in my 70th year. That seems incredible, at this age my mother was joining pensioners lunch clubs and going on old peoples coach holidays! I have no desire t...

I haven’t written much lately. I have been so busy getting ready for our trip to Paris. We are off to London this afternoon, then tomorrow we get the Eurostar. I thought it would a different expe...

I am really enjoing the light evenings. It is 8.30pm, the sun has just gone down behind the hill and left a pink glow behind the trees across the top and there is that wonderful stillness that yo...

At last, a beautiful warm spring sunny day, the kind where you can feel the warmth of the sun on your back and you don’t need a coat. That was Thursday and I spent the afternoon in the garden fin...

I read in the paper that today is the first day of spring as it is the spring equinox. My mother always told me that happened on my grandmother’s birthday, March 21, but I looked it up and appare...

The weather is so changable right now. Today the sun is shining while 2 days ago there was another big storm, I don’t know what that one was called, the wind was so strong that the daffodils were...

It’s a beautiful late winter/early spring day, full of sunshine and daffodils but still very cold. It would be nice to drive to the garden centre at Raglan. The daffodils always line the roads in...

I haven’t been here so much lately. I usually take a cup of tea and some breakfast back to bed while the house warms up and that’s when I visit. Sadly my laptop died at the beginning of the week ...

It was a lovely day today, full of sunshine and birdsong , just like spring. It was quite mild, though Hubby was going around saying he was freezing and putting on an extra bar of fire. He makes ...

Yesterday we went to Cardiff for Cat’s final assessment for her diagnosis. We were expecting they would give her a diagnosis of Asperger’s Syndrome as that is what her psychiatrist thought. I ha...

Frost in The View from the Terrace

How I hate these damp foggy days. Yesterday was very cold. I woke to see thick, white, spikey frost on the branches of the trees and bushes, but the skies were clear and bright and it was beautif...

I was beginning to think that winter had forgotten to call this year. I think the flowers thought so too, our daffodils are really tall and in bud, and the clematis is starting to bloom, while I ...

After the deluge on Monday, followed by more rain on Tuesday after just a brief respite, we had two days of sunshine. It was so good to see it yesterday morning after long cloudy wet days almost...

It’s the morning of Christmas Even, a bright, sunny, blustery day. I woke with a migraine, I took one of my meds and it’s almost gone but I’m feeling spaced out. It doesn’t really matter as every...

Another wild blustery day, at least it’s good for drying the washing. It’s still quite mild and there are still some calendula and cape daisies in bloom in the garden. There was a giant orange po...

I have given up on NojoMo. I was struggling to keep up and I couldn’t seem to respond to some of the subjects. This last week I have been feeling very stuck. I think the events in Paris have a lo...

When people ask me what I would like for Christmas or birthday it usually seems to be something for the garden. Actually on my last birthday they didn’t ask and each of my 3 children and Hubby bo...

Hubby and I went to a concert last night. It was a friend of ours Chris Bannister from the John Denver club, he performs John Denver tributes, well not tributes exactly as he doesn’t try to emula...

Oh dear, I am falling really behind, will have to try to catch up. My mum’s cousin says I look like my mum but, when I look at individual features, I really can’t see it so I guess it must be the...

I inherited Dad’s eyebrows. They were thick and met in the middle. They looked quite dashing on him, but really didn’t work on a girl. I spent hours plucking them. Fortunately as I have grown old...

We don’t often eat out nowadays so I don’t have a current favourite restaurent, but there used to be one I really loved in Hereford, our nearest town. It was called The Marches and it was a whole...

Well writing, obviously, as well as the autobiography I am slowly working on, I enjoy writing short stories and poems. Another favourite hobby is family history. I have always been into this but ...

Three entries in one day! that’s a record for me. I don’t think I have a best memory. I had a happy childhood and there are loads of good memories. My parents kept a pub in Shrewsbury and some of...

Today is Remembrance Sunday and I am thinking of 2 people. I have no immediate relatives who died in any wars. My father was a year too old to be accepted for the RAF in World War 2. My paternal ...

I am feeling a bit stuck on this one which is why I am a day late. It’s not that I don’t feel I have strong characteristics but it’s hard to talk about them, I’m not sure why. I think I am a posi...
