Writing this in 2023, I am divorced with one daughter and three grandchildren - two girls and a boy ages 10, 8 and 4. I’m really lucky to live only half an hour away from them :) I am currently undergoing a horrible protracted withdrawal from Mirtazapine, an anti depressant. I was polydrugged in 2015 and became very ill from them to the point of being bedbound for months. I eventually realised the harm they were causing and came off 2 of them and am now on the last one.

'How can I tell what I think until I see what I say?'

Ruari Alistair Rae Clark! Born at 8.37 p.m. on Tuesday, 5th March after a pretty smooth labour all told. Before he was weighed, we all took turns in guessing the weight. When I looked at hi...

Stress City in Scottish Meanderings

I raided the shed (think ultimate gloryhole) the other night and within minutes had produced my first school Italian grammar book and Cassell's English-Italian dictionary (a present for my 16th b...

The title refers to my first Italian class which took place 4 weeks ago. I had deliberately gone for a beginners class despite having done it at school and college about a hundred years ago, thin...

Sunday 13th. Is there a rail line near your house? If so, is it noisy and bothersome? There is one not too far away but it doesn’t bother me normally. However a couple of years ago there were ma...

I wanted to do a short entry so that I wouldn’t break my goal of an entry a month which I set myself last year but then I went and checked and saw that for some reason I'd failed at the first hur...

Stop Already! in Scottish Meanderings

So on Thursday last week Snarf was nowhere to be seen at breakfast time. I wasn’t unduly worried because he’s gone AWOL for a day and night before and sauntered in quite the thing the following d...

I’ve been allocating Monday afternoon after table tennis for an hour or two of writing finding it much more productive if I’m somewhere away from the house where there aren’t a hundred things sta...

Bit Of a Rant in Scottish Meanderings

What a hellish week it’s been. I wanted to come on here on Monday to rant about it purely to try and purge some of the stress but I didn’t have the energy which you will be glad about because thi...

So once again I sit here half dead having had no sleep whatsoever last night thanks to my extremely irritating neighbour, Mhairi, and her Fagash Lil friends who - yet again - opened and shut her ...

Fairy Tales in Scottish Meanderings

Lily was 6 on Thursday. I asked her what she wanted for her birthday and it was a good job I did because the child who was totally into all the Marvel comic superheroes, Spider-Man in particular,...

Made it! in Scottish Meanderings

I made the reunion! Not only did I manage the 3 hour drive up there (although had to have a lie down before I could get ready to go out) but I managed to stay out until half past 12 which was am...

Well I’m officially ancient now. And all those of you who are into your seventies and beyond will be shaking your heads thinking she doesn’t know the half of it! My brother says rather than say ...

How old will you be in 5 years? Coming up for 65 which is a sobering thought. How tall are you? 5’ 3” which can be a pain with getting stuff to fit but from the answers I’m reading, it sounds li...

A Mishmash in Scottish Meanderings

Willow passed away last Saturday. When I went downstairs to give the 3 of them breakfast that morning he was nowhere to be seen - that used to happen occasionally but he's never strayed far this...

Although it doesn’t feel like it a lot of the time, I can see I’m actually making good progress when I read my last entry before writing a new one (because I can never remember what I was wofflin...

The improvements continue. That last couple of better days I spoke about turned into a wonderful FIVE half-decent days altogether during which I was able to drive down to the beach and have a lo...

I will admit that wasn’t exactly my first thought when I initially saw the awful news about Prosebox! Like many of you I was shocked, my heart sank and I felt physically sick but I realised many...

It's atrocious weather outside - snow, hail, wind, rain - you name it - we've had it. No-one ventured out yesterday although the snow was only a smattering at first (much worse now) but it WAS b...

So just as I was starting to go for little jaunts in the car this happened. Luckily I noticed it as Ian was taking me back home in his car one day when they were over. Unfortunately they had ...

I remember when on a holiday in Yorkshire a long time ago with Nikki and her cousin, Caroline, in a desperate attempt to get privacy to write my diary, I ended up in the private sauna room which ...

I had such a wonderful day yesterday, experiencing a window which lasted almost the whole day. A window is where the symptoms abate a little, allowing you a glimpse of your old self and letting ...

The postbox that is. To explain ~ Not being able to get to the Post Office to post presents this year and having family in far flung(ish) places, I decided to get all the kids (apart from Lily a...
