Thoughts on racial ssues

I have been a liberal for most of my life (except for a brief spin around the political block with Barry Goldwater) but apparently I am not quite liberal enough these days. I am a privileged, en...

Here it is almost another Fourth of July. I wonder just how many of us are willing to celebrate unity, hope, and strength of purpose on this very important day in America? Hot dogs and fireworks ...

Out of Circulation

I’ve been gone for a long time. No excuses. I got caught up in Facebook where everything is expressed in ten words or less and lazy became a way of life. Of course, I could never reduce myself t...

Riverdance Revisited

Ha. What would we do without search engines? Last night's Olympic mystery solved. Jason Brown skated to music from Riverdance. No wonder it was slightly familiar. I've only watched Riverdance abo...

Sunday Quiet.

Another quiet day around here. Bud and I both are a bit off our feed, so to speak. Can't decide whether I have one of those "something's" on board or not, therefore I drag around doing things for...

February Sunshine

I'm loving these sunny sparkly days of ice reflecting sunshine and the kind of cold that makes staying inside my only choice. I dream of Olympic glory and skiing down a mountain slope with snow f...

Life and the weather.

It is a rip snorting 4 degrees outside our house this morning, up from -3 at 8AM. Somewhat brisk, wouldn't you say? This is not intended as a weather report. With any luck it will develop it into...

After the game

Gosh, I am so tired today. I have no excuse to offer. My major accomplishment so far consists of sweeping the kitchen floor and sticking a turkey roast in the oven. It's 4:30 PM here and that's i...

Super Bowl 02/02/14

Twas a glorious day full of family and fun. It helps immeasurably that our team won the whole fracas. I am weary and painfully aware of my neck, shoulders and numb arm. I honestly don't know what...

Saturday Morning

I've been trying to navigate my way around this site. I must admit to failure. I can't figure out how to leave notes for someone. I'll get the hang of it eventually but Arbi, if you find me befor...

Book Description

First day here having survived the demise of OD and looking for my friends and cohorts from that site.

Keeping a diary has seemed a bit pointless these days. I often feel so removed from life that there is little to say beyond weather reports and who cares about that? Being 75 and retired, isolated by weather and the choice of country living, the days often seem to blend into one another without fanfare or acknowledgement. Sounds a lot like depression, doesn’t it? Probably. So onward and upward.

We have a new dog, Lady, a collie mix adopted at age 11 because her person went into a nursing home. She has adapted well to her new environment and keeps my old Franklin dog annoyed just enough so that he acts a couple of months younger. Bud and I are well save the usual curses of aging. Politics drive me nuts, still. The kids are well. Great grandchildren just keep coming, another one due in June. Thanks to Face Book, I see picture of them as they grow and keep up with the activities of my grandchildren. I have much to learn about this site so I suppose this is enough for now. I just wanted to say “Hi” and I’ll do better the next time.
