In Between Times in These Foolish Things

Hi. I’m at the office again. Feels like I live here lately. I know I’m making progress - sales meeting next week and prepping to give several presentations (already did a dry run this morning and I have another two proposals to present this afternoon). It’s a LOT. And yes, it’s the busiest time of the year - that’s fine. But MAN, have things ramped up since the new year started.

Before I go into my next meeting, I thought I’d do a quick update of things going on.

  • We finally found something of an answer. My dad has been diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis. It’s a chronic disease that affects the skeletal muscles, including the face and eyes. This is the cause of his double vision. Now that we know this, certain things can begin to happen. He had a chest MRI yesterday to check out his thymus gland - he may have to have a thymectomy, but we just need to wait and see. This disease can’t be “cured” but it can be treated, so…I don’t know. I guess somewhat of a relief that it’s no longer a mystery, but now the treatment(s) begin. Oh boy.

  • T&D (my Sunday coffee date) seems to be either teasing me or stringing me along a bit. We have texted every day this week, but not to set up a date to see each other again. He keeps telling me how “hot” and “beautiful” I am and that he’s thinking about me, but he’s soooooo busy with work and yeah, so am I, but that doesn’t mean we can’t plan something for this weekend, right? I don’t plan on working all weekend, right?? I also haaaaate to say this, but I wonder if his phone is a burner or something. He just moved here from out of state but he has a local number and an iphone, but it sends me regular messages (in green) instead of imessages (in blue). Don’t you hate that technology makes us all suspicious?? In any case, I’m over here sort of waiting…tap…tap…tap…

  • Had a really great brunch club on Saturday and, as always, we had some thought-provoking conversations. We got to talking about veganism and it made me wonder - since I eat a diet that’s pretty close to [kina sorta but not really] vegetarianism, I wondered what it would be like to go vegan for a week. So I decided to try it. I’m on day 5 and so far so good! I actually feel more clear-headed and I feel like I have more energy. Could this be right?

  • I’ve also started taking melatonin at bedtime, and I’ve had really good sleep with vivid dreams. I think it’s working and I’ve felt quite good. Crazy dreams, though. Not super scary, but wild…like, I cut my hair off to use as currency during what looked like was about to be WWIII. Hmmmmm.

  • Shitty Kitty’s dads (my next door neighbors) are breaking up/divorcing and I’m so sad about it. First of all, they both got skinny…not that they were fat, but they were kinda fluffy guys, which made them all the more lovable. And now they look like supermodels. I wonder if it’s from the stress of breaking up? And they are moving away which means who knows what’s going to move next door in March? Before they moved in a drug dealer lived there and I was NOT AMUSED by that. Seriously, strange people coming through at all hours of the day and night. I know, I know. It’s not about me, but I’m just bummed all-around that this is happening.

  • And I have a phone interview with a company next week. I’ve decided to start trying again after I heard from some of my vendors that my company is not paying their invoices (!!!!) I mean…whaaaaat?? If there was ever a red flag, this is it. So there’s much more to say about that, but I gotta run because I gotta go give my proposals in just a few minutes. But uhhhhhhh. Not a good sign. Doesn’t help that Goldilocks, the sweetest person at this company (not to mention, the funniest) is leaving next week. Waaaaahhhhhh!!!

Gotta roll…

I saw a meme the other day that was a woman texting a friend while she was in labor with her baby and it said something along the lines of, “women: still answering texts while managing birth. Men: three days with no texting then ‘sry got busy’”

I don’t know why I thought that was important to share. 😂 I think maybe because men are so damn slow at everything. T&D needs to get on with it.

Congrats on the interview. Definitely sounds like a good time to explore other options more thoroughly!

I took melatonin one time during a hospital stay and it was the craziest thing ever. I swear a nurse and an orderly came into my room and were fooling around, but maybe it was a really vivid dream?? To this day, I have no idea. Scenario #1, while sexy, seems highly unlikely to me.

The one dude I dated briefly had his iPhone set to green messages rather than blue iMessage so his not quite ex could not log into his Apple account/iPad/what have you and read what he was up to. Which I was like, just change your password! There was some weird thing going on that I didn’t trust.

See, THIS is what my gut is telling me. The green message and the busy all the time and can't-find-time-to-see-you stuff.

I think you should be suspicious of that guy and what is going on with your company :-(
Glad they figured out what is wrong with your Dad. Treatment for that these days has really progressed.
Who will get custody of Shitty Kitty ?

Not paying invoices sounds pretty ominous! Always pays to take note of gut feelings I feel.
Maybe the losing weight thing caused problems in itself as in someone else showed an interest or something?! What’ll happen to Shitty Kitty though? Will there be a custody battle??

I had THE BEST married gay neighbors for many years. We hung out all the time and I loved them. The didn't split up, but they did sell their house and move to a different neighborhood. Now I see them once a year and it is sad. Also the house on the other side of me is a rental, and it's ALWAYS a crap shoot when it comes to new tenants. The girls that live there now are fine. But the people before that had too many parties, and the kids before THAT had a shooting in the house and got arrested for drug possession. Neighbors are stressful!

I know that when I get hardly any data service, the phone cellular service will send it as SMS/green instead of a blue message. Sometimes I'll have a mix of blue/green depending on where I'm at when the message got sent. I've noticed that more recently when I switched providers. Maybe he has a crappy provider and is often sending messages from an area that's almost a deadspot? Are the messages a mix of blue/green or all green?

Each and every time.
