Enjoying in These Foolish Things

I’m enjoying my last week of WFH for the foreseeable future. Unless things get really bad again with Covid (which, Fall? Winter? Who knows?), I’m going back to the office for work starting Monday, August 17th. It’s just better that way as I’m handling samples and need to pop around and measure things at a moment’s notice and review and approve packaging, fabrics, etc. all the time. I’m actually going into the office for a bit today as I need to do some approvals that are there.

Good news is we won’t have a full office at all. In fact, I understand that only about 10-15% of us are going back to the office environment, so…it will be clean and quiet in there. And I can bring my dog again!

Can’t wait to just get out of this apartment during the day.

Things around the apartment are ok. I’m still driving Martini out to different parks for her walks (due to fear of walking around my apartment). I’ve gotten used to it. I’ve loved my pre-work morning routines during Covid: sleep in a bit, do a 30-minute light cardio workout, then drive out to the trail and walk Martini for 45 minutes, come home, shower and start work (usually starting around 9am - an hour later than I normally start work at the office).

But then I just…ugh, I don’t know. I feel like I’m sitting in a little corner of my place in a kind of rigged-up desk. I mean, it’s a legit desk, but it just doesn’t feel like a great workplace environment, you know? And when I’m done working - it’s still there! Taunting me!

I think if I were working for myself, I’d have a studio where I’d go to do my thing. It would be a place for creative work where I could see my progress and not a little corner of my apartment.

ANYWAY. This week is good because I can see the light at the end of the tunnel - whatever tunnel that may be.

Who knows? Maybe Putin’s Corona vaccine really works???!!!

Honestly, here’s hoping for some REAL relief, really soon.

…and for more interesting things to write about!

xox,
GS

Glad that is working out for you !

Here’s my thinking on Putin’s vaccine, and lots of other too good to be true medical developments: things that are announced in the press rather than via the medical/scientific community are usually not legit. If it really was, scientists would want this data in journals to be vetted by the medical community. Why wouldn’t he want them vouching for it if it was really for real??

Yeah. I get that. It's actually super frightening that he's announcing this and it gives me the chills - what could this BE??!! And I think the problem that's going to come of this is - if he fucks this all up, when there's an actual legit vaccine or whatnot, who will believe it?!

Elaine Benes Ginger Snap ⋅ August 11, 2020

My guess is that it really is a vaccine but rather than study it they’re just saying it’s done, all good, it works! There’s no way it could have been thoroughly studied in such a short time. I mean, there’s lots of people getting vaccines now as part of studies. But no one is saying it’s safe or effective yet. Except Putin.

I hear you, I need some home and work separation (and non four legged company) too.

It is always so interesting to read about your daily life. I envy you your beauty looks and vitality. I’m glad you’re going back to work we all need a base that is separate from the nest where we live. It will be stimulating for martini to “be back on the job.”
I can never figure out exactly what you do and it’s been quite a few years that we’ve known each other. Can you tell me please? Thank you.

I love that you get to bring Martini to work! Ez is going to be super pissed off at us if we have to go back full-time soon! Luckily Marielle's office is looking at the next FISCAL year before they return to work, and that's April 2021!

Right?! I can imagine all of the animals wondering WTF when all of their parents have to go back to work. But yes, it's going to be a slow transition back to some kind of new normalcy. So...I think they're going to be fine for a little more.

Martini loves to come to work with me, but I still like to give her variety - so I still take her to daycare a couple of days a week. That way she gets her doggy dose as well :)

It's a toss-up over whose ego is bigger, Putin's or Trump's. They'd both disregard science just to get bragging rights!

Enjoy your time back in the office! I get what you mean about your desk looming over you. I'm lucky that mine is shut away in my 3rd bedroom! xx

Just shows how important the work environment really is! :)
