Ok so im a picky eater. Take that in mind. I cook really well and i like my food. Everyone says they love it. People ask for my recipes. Im happy to share. I LOVE seasoning. Get that seasoning NOT spice. I dont like spicy so my husband adds spice when he wants it. I love to season food. Everything is very flavorful with lots of layers of spices and herbs.
Anyway so my bother in law said he would cook last night. So i said ok whew i dont have to. He said he was going to make lasagna out of my leftover spaghetti sauce. get that MY LEFTOVER sauce. IE already seasoned well and was an awesome sketti. So really all he had to do was layer cheese and noodles and be good right.
It took him two hours. And when he was finished it literally tasted like the most blah store bought lasagna. Husband and I are asking HOW he did that out of my sauce. Unless he watered it down? Or used tomato soup. You couldent taste any of the cheese at all. I even listed the cheeses for him to get. Ricotta, Romano, Asiago, Mozzi, Parm, Cheddar, Top with basil and parsley and sprinkle it all with cheese on top. EASY right.
Ok so he layered noodles then watered down meat, then noodles then meat then noodles and topped with cheddar. JUST cheddar.... Im not sure what the heck he did to my sauce. Because my meat sauces are super thick and this tasted like .... NOTHING. You couldent even taste the meat lol.

Im trying not to complain. At least he tried right. This makes his fourth dinner since ive been here. The previous 3 were so spicy you couldent taste anything. I think he just knows how to cook either watered down blah food or so spicy you cant taste anything. So i am complaining and im trying not to.... Maybe ill just stick with the cooking lol. At least my kids dont come and ask why it tastes so funny lol.

One of my fav dinners and my kdis fav is pork chops in mushroom gravy. He added 2 cups of water for every cup of mushroom gravy.... I use half a cup of whole milk per cup of gravy… So you can imagine it tasted way different… Im making it tonight.

The one thing he can cook is green chili that burns your taste buds off. But half the kids liked it.

God im being a bitch over this… I dont mind other flavors. But i dont like them so blah i cant taste seasoning. for goodness sake Ive bought an entire spice cabinet since being here. USE IT! Everyone else is raving about the food. And if he was cooking dinners before. I get why lol.
Even my grandpa said i took his old family recipe and made it better. Well his was made with moose meat which isnt something i can get now. So i used roast meat and made it my way lol.
My mom said i need to use a bit less salt in the food, My grandparents both had heart attacks by the time they were 60. She said i should be a bit smarter… So um. yeah im only using pink salt and trying not to use a ton. There are TONS of other seasonings to use! }

Ok sorry. Bitchy mode off! I had to get it out. Im going to go finish knitting a handspun alpaca hat and playing my tap tap game.

I love seasonings too , but not spicy. I have to have mild when we eat Thai .
That hamburgher soup would be better with diced tomatoes , a couple stalks of chopped celery , a can of veg all , chopped cabbage , minced garlic then I add bay leaf , whole cloves , whole pepper corns , and basil . My Grandmother called this “ Depression Soup” because apparently they ate a lot of it during the depression. This is the soup I want when I get sick :-) I let it cook about eight hours in the crockpot .

How do you make the pork chops in mushroom gravy ?

Oh this is one of my favorite meals. Super easy.
The best meat is a fatty pork haha. I used loin tonight and its meh. Normally pork steaks are my favorites.
So a pat of butter and in the pan and fry your pork chops with your favorite seasonings. I use things like mrs dash and seasoning salts. While they fry heat the oven to about 400-450. Once the chops are fried put them in an oven dish. You just want to brown them, Dont worry about cooking through.
Easy mushroom gravy is cream of mushroom soup and half a can of whole milk. If you want to make your own you can. But i just use cream of mushroom soup and whole milk. Mix them together in a sauce pan and warm just so they mix together well. Then pour it over the chops. Season the top of the soup and put it in the oven for 2-3 hours. NOW if you want it REALLY good. Put it in the slow cooker till the meat falls apart. Serve over rice. Super simple but OH so good.
My kids cant eat enough. For our family i do about 6 pork steaks and 4 cans of soup. But you can adjust that to your family size. You just want enough soup to cover your pork chops totally to soften them into mush haha. :)
