All I did... in Every day scata

Was move piles of junk to the other room.

I’ve never worked with a hoarder before. I knew it was going to be super hard (I’ve watched Hoarders enough) but damn! I kept putting the Ziploc bags she didn’t want to throw away in my pockets to toss. She won’t part with catalogs, or …anything for that matter. Well, I did fill up 3 trash bags of junk. So I guess it wasn’t all for naught.

But next week when I go over, I told her that we were going to go through all the papers that she wanted to keep today, and we’re going to toss at least half of them. I told her that I can be a real bitch about it, just like I was with all her expired meds. OMG they were soooo old! Think expired in 2008 old. And she got mad that I tossed them out. Oh well! I told her that they could make her super sick and I didn’t want that to happen. Which is true, but I don’t think she had touched that box of meds since… I think last year, at least.

The thing that gets me is that she has some super nice stuff that is just crammed into totes never to be seen or worn. So many pieces of jewelry all tangled up in a box. Thankfully she has a ton of unused jewelry boxes that I’m going to take advantage of After we do the papers thing. I have to tackle that mess first.

I tell ya what. I’m hurting, and I’m tired. AND frustrated. Honestly I can get really mean about shit like that. I hope that I don’t make her cry. I don’t want her to cry because I’ll cave and she’ll end up keeping everything. sigh

ok. I need coffee. See ya.

Sometimes if I'm unsure about stuff I want to save because "memories", I will take a picture and throw it away.

Oh how I wish I could convince her to do something like that. I'm dreading the catalog hoard. I couldn't convince her to throw one out, so I snuck it into the trash along with the ziplocs. I feel like a bad person, but I know she won't even notice it's gone unless she does go through the trash.

Wow. That sounds like a friend's mother. She doesn't go upstairs anymore and there is no need to because no one can fit upstairs. My other friend said that someone needs to just set the house on fire and move. Damn.

So sad, isn't it? That they can't throw anything away because it fills some empty part of them.
