Insane in the brain in The Hurdle

I have to have an MRI today of my brain, they think I might have a tumor on my pituitary gland? (Hence the elevated prolactin levels) They said it’s most likely benign, so that’s a silver lining.

I really haven’t let myself lean into the whole “why me” thing, because one- it sounds victim-ey, and two- I mean, just being honest, why anyone, you know? Like what purpose does it serve? But I’m starting to wonder- was I a complete piece of shit in a past life? Does someone have a voodoo doll of me somewhere? All of a sudden I have cancer and all these other weird little tumors and spots in my body and it’s just annoying and weird and I hate all of it. Aside from today, the next appointment that I have is with the plastic surgeon on June 9th so at least I’ll get a little break from this being so top of mind. Still not 100% sure which treatment option I want yet though. It’s a big decision.

I think I might treat myself today and get my nails done. My feet are looking less than fantastic at the moment and I just got a new pair of slides I wanna wear. Plus, ya know, if I have to sit through another MRI I may as well.

So, one really unexpected, nice thing that’s happened is how many people have reached out and sent lil gifts and stuff. I feel so special 🤗. One of my longtime PB friends sent me a fabulous necklace, along with a hilariously funny candle, a pair of awesome socks and a nice card- there was even stuff for Matt in there, which he said he thought was extremely sweet. My friend Andi sent me a care package with a bunch of different bath salts, a fuzzy blanket, a huge new yeti mug (which is awesome cause mine got lost at work. I guarantee you someone stole it. Ew.) and an eye mask for sleeping. My mom sent me a miraculous medal and a prayer card for St Peregrine (no idea how to pronounce that!) who, apparently, is the patron saint of cancer. I had no idea there was such a thing.

I was raised in a pretty religious family but I haven’t been a practicing Catholic in a very long time. But a nice gesture is a nice gesture, I appreciate that she took the time to send it up. ❤️

Anyway, tomorrow I go back to work and I have a bunch of crap to get done before the MRI.

Later y’all 😘
