Girly Question in 2014

Its been so incredibly cold here, its depressing. This is a place that gets 100 degrees in the summer. WHERE IS THAT? lol

Oh well, still making the best of it. Going camping etc. Been doing the usual and hanging out with Tiffany and Tracy all the time.

Nothing much to report here.

Girly question though, I got my nails done by my cousin when she was here visiting. She used this stuff called Shellac, and a UV lamp. Have any of you ladies had this done? Its awesome! It cures right away under the lamp and I've had this on for well over a week now with no scratches or chips or any sign of it coming off. Does anyone know where to get this stuff? I'm thinking ebay. I'd love to get set up with a base coat/top coat and a couple colours with the UV lamp and do this to myself. Seriously though, with all the stuff I do with the kids and how much I'm outdoors playing or cleaning, normal nail polish barely lasts a day before its all shitty looking.

I think the nail salons call it "gel", I know they use to ask me if I wanted to acrylic or gel. Gel is more expensive, but it sets so much faster and like you said, lasts a lot longer.

You can get the gel polishes and a curing lamp at shoppers! And some at Wal Mart (Fuse brand but reviews aren't that great). It's not shellac, but there's a good review of the Quo gel polishes here : http://natalieast.com/quo-by-orly-gel-nails-review-on-ctv-news/

I never would have thought it got to 100 ANYWHERE in Canada. I know you have hot summers there, especially along the coast but 100?!?

Sounds to me that the nail stuff is sort of like adamantium and you can use it to kill people AND look fabulous.

I get my nails done like that! You can get the supplies online I'm sure, eBay is a good start or companies like Ulta, Sally Beauty Supply, etc. I found a groupon online to get my nails done with a shellac mani and a regular pedi for $38, and my lady honors that price forever so I go every few months and get pampered. The shellac mani usually lasts me at least 3 WEEKS! They will start growing out before the polish starts chipping. If you are ready to remove it though, you need to soak your fingertips in a glass bowl of acetone. It will not come off with regular polish remover, and peeling it off can damage your nails. Sally Hansen and OPI both make the gel/shellac polish that you can buy. The UV machine might be a little harder to find, but I'm sure they're available online and through beauty supply retailers. Just make sure to put sunscreen on your fingers, since you are exposing them them to UV rays after all!

I was kind of freaking out, thinking you were giving the temperature in C!! HOLY JESUS HOT AS THE SUN! lol. Took me a moment.

I LOVE getting that done on my nails. Everything else chips off in a few days, but that stuff will last weeks. It's a few dollars more at the salon, but worth it since it lasts so long. :) My friend has one that she bought at a trade show. I bet you can get it lots of places though.

It has been really cold by us too! Incredibly disappointing summer! I might have to try that gel thing out! I stopped doing my nails awhile ago, because of that same reason.
