Everyone has their favorite songs. Some songs speak to your soul and you want others to hear it. Kind of a reason why I post videos here.

So, in the comments, link me up with youtube videos of your songs. I want to hear what you hear. If they have lyrics in the videos, that would be great, because sometimes I don’t quite catch what they’re saying.

What I hope to do is write an entry (or maybe a reaction vlog. not sure though) in regards to the song you post.

Anyone want to do this for me?

My favorite songs don't have lyrics. Instead, I try to imagine what would happen to the song. I create the imagery, instead of relying on being told it. But the inspirations come from various things. I'll give some practical examples at the bottom.
- Starchild - Thomas Bergersen (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hguvzsLUD5E)
- Kalki - E.S. Posthmus (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tjt2EZA_Yg)
- To Glory - Two Steps from Hell (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2hRTLdvdnk)
- Sands of Time - Audiomachine (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zi1INVUCeKs)

And now, some practical examples:

  1. The video that started it all. This video introduced me to Immediate Music, and from the songs like Arcana, Epicon, Lucius Dei I was introduced to other great pieces like Electric Romeo. Plugging those into Pandora (spotify and other services didn't exist yet) introduced me to other artists like Audiomachine and Thomas Bergersen as the years went by. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8_JbDiALkY

  2. The first professional video I saw using 'trailer music' that I loved with content that really fit the music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lx9sPQpjgjU (Heart of Courage - Two Steps from Hell)

  3. If you've seen Star Wars - The Force Awakens, you'll know this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfAqRLX2PNo

And, finally, if you absolutely must have a song with lyrics, I'd say I'll Mind of Hopsin 5 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRVOOwFNp5U)

i've got a "book" here basically dedicated to the babyboomer music i grew up listening to...i continue to find and collect videos to post. of course, at least for me, it is hard to select even a real "top ten" bands or songs...though i have indeed done it sometimes.

check out my book, perhaps even from the start of it, there are plenty of songs there which, i would hope, represent something for other boomers too, if there are many other ones here.
the "songs of my life", the ones which was a deep part of my life, are somewhere in the selection i have here, and some yet to be found. sometimes the song may fluctuate and alter to a different song. right now, the one which i feel represents, in a subconscious fashion, my feelings...and emotions: norman greenbaum's spirit in the sky, which actually didn't get a whole lot of FM airplay in the 70s, i don't know why...i mean, later on, the doobie brothers did a remake of a late '60s song titled jesus is just alright which was vastly popular and sometimes played by a DJ on FM...anyway, here's the greenbaum song:

Damn, it's been a while since I've heard that song :) Thank you for the reminder of how awesome it is :)

sure, you're welcome. it's a shame he was sorta a one-hit-wonder...even my dad liked the song, which was odd. one night i played father and son by cat stevens and cats in the cradle by harry chapin, and lyla by eric clapton...and he liked all of them, which i found really cool.
he introduced me to the "big bands" music, like glenn miller, les brown, benny goodman and others, which i've appreciated ever since around '75 or so

I love those lyrics!

OMG! there is so much to do lol. I am horrible at picking favorites so I'm just gonna listen to everyone else's :)

Probably my favorite song ever, if I had to pick one. The music makes me explode with happiness, even though the lyrics are about something so tragic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5XJ2GiR6Bo
I love the slow build-up of this one and the jangly guitars: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TSAU7Ocroc
Woven musical perfection: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxHmO3SBfUU

I'll leave it at those. There are Duran Duran songs, but I figure you already know all of those and have your own feelings about them. :-)

omg I remember Enola Gay! I used to (try) to play it on my keyboard. The second reminds me of the Monkees for some reason. The third I kind of couldn't get into. Maybe because it was over before I knew it.
