Situations in Self-Improvement, 2018

Thank goodness I have a therapy appointment tonight! Because I have a dude who has found himself attached to me, which was not the agreement. The agreement was summertime fuck buddies as soon as he got back from his underway (he’s active duty Navy).

But backing waaaaaaaaaay up:

You know the dude I told you about who I went to the bar with and he invited me to the drive-in movie theater for a date which would have been Sunday (yesterday)? My spidey-senses came to the conclusion that something was way off with that dude, and it wasn’t his looks. His looks/smell were fine. I dunno, he was super big and muscular, and I’m not sure I wanted to be “trapped” in his Ford Expedition in the event that he turns into a psycho. So I blocked all communications with him and didn’t go. THe other weird thing was that our bar date was on a wednesday and he listed off things he had scheduled until Sunday, which was his free day. But Thursday he invited me back out. I declined. Friday he said he was going camping (does anyone camp in WA state during this time of year?) and that he’d be back Sunday. Saturday he texted and said the camping got called off because one of his buddy’s wife wanted him home and there was no further explanation. Do A) wives ever request their husbands to come back home from camping early? B) Do the rest of the dude’s buddies call off the trip just because one guy had to leave early? Spidey Senses determined this guy was too shady to be trapped with at the drive-in. Full disclosure: my spidey senses are on high alert.

Now this other guy. I’ve been chatting with him quite extensively. He’s currently out to sea for a 1-2 month underway. The “agreement” was that once he got back we’d have a shit ton of summer sex before he moves to Virginia in August. It was perfect for non-commitment. But, he’s coming attached. We’re facebook friends, intagram friends, and snapchat friends. He has had all the time in the world to look through my entire Facebook history. At this point I think he knows me better than my therapist. He wants to do things with me like hiking, Mariners games, attend my football games, etc. He even claims to not have anger ragey issues.

I told him that I was still healing from my last relationship and that I needed him to be patient while I healed. I told him I’m in therapy.

He is also still married and going through a divorce. Has a kid. His soon-to-be ex and kid all live in Virginia. He plans to retire from the Navy and spend the rest of his Naval career in Virginia.

What is it about me that attracts the kind that fall quick and fast. The guy hasn’t even met me but said I was his intellectual equal. When I meet him in person, I’m going to find out if that was a compliment or not.
