And suddenly... in blackpropaganda

You know it is going to happen some time, but when it does it is a shock. A friend and colleague over a very long time died suddenly on Friday. In many ways having a massive heart attack was a blessed relief - he had suffered for many years from Muscular Dystrophy which had slowly taken away his ability to move around - and he was now restricted very much to moving slowly around - and his wife has a deteriorating condition too. They were always amazingly positive but life was increasingly difficult.
The great thing is that when we were in the north east a few weeks ago we were able to visit them and have a couple of hours chatting - and having wonderful scones and cake baked by his wife.
So another of my old colleagues has gone - and there are not many left. As I phoned a round to let people know I realised how few there were.

Meanwhile we get on with our life - ballroom dancing on Friday afternoons - both helping with beginners, and then our ‘improvers’ class. When the teacher is not booked to come we have ‘social dancing’ - we all help each other - and have a great time getting more practice on the moves.

And of course Strictly is back. Some real potential this year again - how do they do this in three weeks practice? I do like to see those who are not confident yet - but clearly have potential - the dark horses coming up on the outside. And there are a couple of carthorses who will only survive on the popular vote.

And the Tumblr site where I picked up all those great jokes has gone - luckily I have a few to use again

I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your friend.

Very sorry, but it was nice for you to have spent some time together recently...memories can be the best comfort.

Thanks - it is interesting that he was quite a private person - and he only gave so much away - a kind of carapace which never cracked - so not easy to say how ill he was when we saw them.

So sorry to hear this.
