More Italian pics!!! in blackpropaganda

One of the great things about many Italian towns and cities is how you turn a corner, or look up - and you see something interesting. In Lucca the streets are narrow, great when it is hot because of the shade, and the you look up - and there is a clock tower
or you walk down a street and look into an entry where the sun is shining - and you see this
And here are three pictures from Florence (Firenze) - the interior of Santa maria Novella - I love the space and light - and there is a crucifix by Giotto suspended from the ceiling
A wall of frescoes (painted diectly on to the plaster centuries ago in a chapel in Santa MN
and finally the view of the Duomo (Cathedral) and Baptistry with the crowds - we just walked a round and moved on

So pretty! The first picture kind of reminds me of Leicester. Just how things are so close together in town. I loved walking the alleys and seeing all the shops. You won't find anything like that here in Florida.

Old cities were not dominated by the automobile - the problem with Lucca was that cars and vans shared the streets with pedestrians - and bicycles going really fast.
