Carol Burnett and Willie Nelson are both celebrating their 90th birthdays this week. Carol’s is the 26th and Willie’s is the 29th. Interesting that they were born so close together, both having long successful careers in entertainment and both living to such ripe old age.
Willie was quoted in Parade, the magazine that still comes with Sunday newspapers.
He said ‘you have to do something everyday to pay for the day. You need to run, walk, swim, sing; whatever it is that’s important to you. You have to do it and then see how long you can keep doing it.’
His said it was his motto.

I like that ! Carol was on Jimmy Kimmel the other day and she still looked great . Her mind was still very sharp and she was still funny :-)

Wow! Neither one of them seem like they should be 90 to me.

That's a great motto!

Great advice.
Now if I could only follow it!!

There's only one Willie. Think of all the musicians who end their lives early and broke and in trouble with their families and with the law. Willie is not the norm. The rest of us lack his talent and we limp through life without 2 foot long red braids and a lot less loved.
Could be worse of course, Always can be.
Happy retirement. It's not a bowl of cherries either. But as my motherinlaw said ..... something like considering the alternative.

Hmmm...you love writing and you write every day...sometimes here. You are paying for your days.

Doing what they love seems to help keep them going.

I kinda felt like leaving my comfy warm bed was the payment for the day.

It is sad to me that so many folks don’t know what they love and so aren’t doing it. Reading is enough in my view.
