I have been tasked with creating a video for our first ever virtual annual meeting. I have done video before but never to the caliber that is going to be expected for this project. I have started a video course on Premiere Pro and feel like my stomach is going to explode. I am more nervous about doing this then if I had to get up in front of people and talk to them about doing it. I am less worried about editing the video than I am about the audio portion. Most video editing I have done involves voice overs or clips of people talking. Not an hour of talking that will need to be edit and cleaned up. My boss is not the best public speaker. The plus side is that I do know a few people I might be able to employee or beg to help if I have a problem aligning the audio and video tracks. A student I once taught went to Rollins for Music Production and has a lot of experience with audio tracks. Not sure if he has any with video though, I reached out to his mother to ask and have not heard back yet.
I have a hard time getting my head out of the concept of working for a company and working for a school. When they asked me to add this project to my list I started thinking of the things we would need and adding up the price. I brought that up and said that if we kept if under 10 getting approval would be no problem. Now at the school they would have told me that if I spent $10 I went too far. It is a difficult transition to make working for a school and working for a company. The the cost of hotel rooms and airfare to get everyone in one location is more than the school would have been willing to spend on any project let alone an hour video that would be seen one time. Time to start making a plan and get back to work.
