"RE-ARRANGING LIFE"

As cliche as this sounds, I agree with the notion that we tend to take so many things for granted. We often forget that nothing lasts forever. Everything may change at any second. Anything goes. ...

"A BREAKUP IS STILL A BREAKUP"

I admit that this #Covid19 pandemic is slowly draining out positive ideas from this writer’s brain. It hasn’t been easy. Well, I hope the angle of this writing is different this time. I remember ...

“NOTHING BUT LIGHT”

(For Michele Tambunan – December 18, 1964 – August 10, 2021) Actually, I’d wanted to stop writing any obituaries right after this #Covid19 pandemic hit. I never even wanted to do this at first, b...

I’m beginning to feel icky – no, ickier – with the ugliness of this world lately. Social media is full of crazy people, but thankfully I can still see the good ones too. It’s a daily challenge to...

I don’t remember the last time I was most embarrassed. Honestly, I often try not to think about such moments. I have plenty, believe me. As a clumsy tomboy, I’ve had my share of embarrassing mome...

After a couple of years of heavy skepticism with romance, I decided to watch a romantic comedy again. Okay, it was actually an accident. I finished work and the movie “Superintelligence” was on. ...

As someone who’s romantically challenged, I never thought that I could enjoy this anthology of flash fiction. Written by Firnita Taufick, “Strings Attached” brings me back to my teenage years. To...

I grew up watching the original “Charmed” TV series. Piper Halliwell (Holly-Marie Combs) is my favorite character there. She’s one of the three witch sisters. She has the ability to freeze time w...

How are we holding up these days? I know this sounds cliché, but hopefully, all of us are okay. So, apparently #Covid19 pandemic still wants to take over the center stage of this world. There’s b...

Please, don’t get them wrong. You may think they’re being complicated. You might also assume that they’re being such cowards. The truth is, it’s not always as simple and easy as a typical rom-com...

"BEHIND THE MASK"

I returned home one weekend to celebrate my niece Gira’s birthday. It was fun, with lots of good food and cakes. I’d played with her and her brothers too. Because of my teaching schedules on Satu...

(*This was written on January 2021): I must say, I used to travel alone at night, out on the road. I’ve had jobs with odd or unusual working hours. For example, your 9-to-5 is actually my 12-to-8...

From the moment The Ex-Guardian saw The Mighty Queen sitting on the front porch, she’d known that she’d been dreaming. She was back in The Isolated Castle, instead of the rented room she was in. ...

As predicted, it’s not over yet. We’ve heard the new #Covid strain in the UK. Should we call that #Covid20, then? Nope, I’m not making a joke. That’s a serious question. You don’t need to answer ...

That’s right. There’s your bad news. You may not believe me, which is fine. After all, I’m still single and childless. What the hell do I know, right? Right?? You’re going to lose that kid. I’m n...

"AFTER THE SHOT..."

I dare say that nobody likes injections,  not even for their own good. The tough may claim that they can take any shots. However, that doesn’t mean they like them. There’s a difference. I remembe...

I’ve got the privilege to get to know another talented poet from my own country. I met Indah P. at Malam Puisi Jakarta (Jakarta’s Poetry Night). She was there to promote her poetry anthology – “B...

They have loved you. Once upon a time, they truly did. The stories could turn out differently, depending on how you (have chosen to) respond to their feelings for you. Perhaps you’ve loved them t...

First of all, this is not always ghosting. Believe me, it’s not always what you may think. Either way, it’s up to you how to react to this. This Covid-19 pandemic has left many of us feeling more...

"NOT FOREVER"

There is no such thing as ‘forever’. Call me a cynic, but you know it’s true. We’re mortals and bound to change. What you may enjoy now, you may not be keen on later. You may also say you love th...

Alright, I admit it. I don’t always stay home during this pandemic era. Once in a while, when I have to, I still go out too. Okay, fine. Sometimes I do go out because I just want to, okay? Grocer...

“Life is short. Why hold grudges?” I’ve heard that from a lot of people, quite often already. My best friend Hazel Eyes is one of them who thinks so too. Don’t get me wrong, okay? I know what tha...

The title is ironic, because I’ve written an article about how to limit your child’s screen-time during a pandemic. The truth is, even before #Covid19, it’s already been challenging enough – espe...

"IT AIN'T OVER YET"

The year 2020 isn’t over yet. Neither is the Covid-19 pandemic. It depends on where you live and how effective the government’s policy is. No matter what so many people out there would like to be...

I’m just one of the many in this world, recording this specific history. I’m writing during this pandemic…
