Name: Tall & Dark (and yes, handsome)

Introduction Platform: Hinge

Age: 52

Relationship Status: Divorced 4 years. Has a daughter and a grandson.

Job: Military Defense (of course, couldn’t tell me a whole lot about this, but he manages a team of developers, I think?)

Lives: In the northern suburbs

Length of Date: FIVE hours

We Did: Met for coffee at a cool joint downtown a few blocks from my place. After we talked for well over his allotted time (he originally told me he’d have to cut it short because he wanted to watch the KC vs. TN game), we walked across the street to a sports bar to watch some of the game he’d been missing and to continue our conversation and have a drink or two.

He Looked: Tall, dark, handsome. Well-dressed in a corduroy sport coat, sweater, dark jeans, sweet face, nice smile, all-around cutie.

I Looked: Jeans, boots, my faux fur coat. Casual with a twist (the big fluffy fur coat is always a crowd pleaser)

Convo: Flowed. Interesting points of conversation included both our love of nature (he likes to hike), the fact that he grew up on the mean streets of Chicago, and discovering that we both sucked our thumbs until the age of 13 (and yes, we both had major brace action)

High Point: The feeling of comfort and familiarity with him. And the kiss at the end!

Low Point: I was worried that the date was going on too long. I wish I hadn’t felt that way, but I told myself that I was going to get some work done today and at least clean my kitchen and none of that happened because we kept talking and then I had two glasses of champers that hit me REALLY hard. The thing is, the date was going REALLY well and I hope my antsy vibes didn’t fuck it up.

How It Ended: He wanted it to last longer, I could tell, but in the end the ants in my pants got the best of me. I told him I needed to go and he walked me home. I could tell he even wanted me to invite him up, but that definitely wasn’t going to happen. He even went so far as to ask me if I wanted to hang out with him later in the evening - as in, watch the other playoff game at his place and I turned him down. But in the end, we kissed and it was pretty…wonderfully steamy and tingly and that was an excellent feeling.

Chances Are: We’ll have to see. I like him for sure and I think he wants to go out again. I think he’d be someone I could have something interesting with. He’s soooooo nice. I’m giving it a 75% chance he’ll ask and a 100% chance I’ll say yes if he does.

Date Rating: A- (the minus was for my ants)

It's so hard to read people when you first meet them. Not a bad idea to cut out early (for whatever reason), and leave him wanting more.

I hope I did that, you know? I hope I didn't make him think that I didn't want to hang out with him anymore!

A very high compliment indeed to be more motivating that playoff football! 😂 He's def into you.

Ginger Snap Florentine ⋅ January 21, 2020

Aw, I took it as a compliment as well! I thought he'd be out the door well before the game started.

my fingers are crossed, too!

Sounds great. Did he indicate whether he was a KC or Titans fan?

Ginger Snap plushcreep ⋅ January 23, 2020

He wanted the Titans to win - loves underdogs.

plushcreep Ginger Snap ⋅ January 23, 2020

I like him already.
