Interesting State Statistics in Book Six: Trying to Hold On 2019

Just as a thing that came up as I was looking up state statistics and comparing things between Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Iowa:
Iowa is the 4th most obese state in the nation.
Nebraska is the 15th most obese state in the nation.
Wisconsin is the 21st most obese state in the nation.
Minnesota is the 30th most obese state in the nation.
So… there’s that.
Then there’s the meth. ONLY counting individuals who sought treatment within a single year? Over 60,000. That would be super small potatoes in many states; that is 2% of the population in Iowa. That is only the meth users who sought treatment! That doesn’t include the arrests and the people who never sought treatment. So… it is not too far a stretch to think that Iowa’s actual percentage of meth users is closer to 5% or even higher.
It is my state. There are 8 pigs for every adult human in this state. This is one of the states that feeds this country. In the 1980s and the 1990s, we were one of the nation’s leading states in education and literacy. We are now a state of obese meth using Steve King voting Trump supporters. Tragic.

That is a good question whose answer I could not find. I remember the First In Literacy story because it popped up on my Facebook page in a memory dated 2014.
