Christmas Woes in Bittersweet

Its really hard to try and think of Christmas gifts sometimes.

Im torn with my small budget of trying to get things they will really like. The younger kids are easier. Some legos and matchbox cars. And they are happy.
But the older boys, they are asking for things like hoverboards, electric scooters, or video game “cash” And then my sister said she got one of her kids an electric scooter. Its beyond my means. If i get one one, i would have to get all of them something like that. At nearly 200 per child, its not a good idea..... Thats like ALL my christmas money. I hope my kids understand why im not spending I mean i know the older guys do. But i hope they dont feel cheated.

For little girl, i have an art set, im buying frozen dollies, some bth balms and other little things for stockings including matchbox cars.

For Lo. I got matchbox cars, a race track ( to share) and a lego set. oh and an art set ( coloring books)

for Ch. He got a replacement phone ( already given ) some matchbox cars, the race track,

For Co. (12) He got headpones, and nothing else so far. Some brain teasers and soap for the stocking. Oh and movie ticket vouchers

B. ( 15) got headphones some art supplies ( new pencils) and hot sauce. Brain teasers and soap for the stocking. and movie ticket vouchers

Ahh i need help. I found some cool puzzles but they are made of balsa wood and im debating… Balsa wood is so fraglie. But check them out.

Anyway, im stumped. My kids are really electronically inclined. And im trying so hard to stay away from buying them came cash. Although i really do want to buy them a switch and some games… But that is 300 for the switch and 80 a game! Eeep. I only have about 200 left! so any cheap ideas that would actually mean something to kids.... Thats the hard part.

Have you looked at refurbished video games? Might save some cash. Or even just from fb marketplace, but that can be risky I guess. It's still a newish game so maybe not a lot of people selling. But you never know. I like thrift or marketplace in general for cmas gifts. Were getting an air hockey table and theres no way I'm paying full price. Previously loved it is :) it's hard as they get older. Mine are still fairly easy, although my 8 year old did ask for am iphone 11. Insane.

I bought my kids a blu phone. Its under 100 on amazon or at best buy. Oh i think it was 115 at best buy. Either way. Its a good way to get them a "smart phone" without investing in a on brand phone they will likely break or loose.
I did consider a used system. My son is gunning for a ps4. Which hes finding used on marketplace. But im really hoping to stay away from the systems if possible. I havent seen a switch on there yet though.
Its easy under 10. After that, its just electronics, electronics ,electronics... At least for my kids haha.

I'm sure its headed in that direction quickly for us as well. We tried to stick to toys with a purpose this year. Stuff to do. Science experiments, musical instruments building stuff...No LOL dolls this year. My kids are into the surprise and then over it. Frustrating. Thanks for the phone rec, I'll have to see if it's a thing in canada.

Costco had some REALLY neat science kits if you have one near you.
We got a marble maze. Biology kit. a robotics kit. All under 30 each.

Edited

I was lazy and just did a big order on amazon. Not always the best prices but got it all done haha. Really gotta start utilizing Costco, though!

Im still having a hard time finding things even on amazon for the older kids lol. But i love it. When i lived in Alaska, we couldent use Amazon for christmas, it takes a few weeks haha. But down in the states it comes super fast! So i could possibly order a few things if i can find anything they like.
