Miracle Morning in Mindset Monday

Daylight savings created an opportunity for me to go to bed earlier. I’m that much closer to joining the 5am club. Mornings shape our whole day and that is why I am trying to create that perfect starting ritual for myself. One that gives me energy, clarity and ambition. Hitting snooze starts me off with one failure already in the bag and my days usually consist of fatigue, stress and doubt. It’s not that dramatic, it could just be better. I could be better. If I start my mornings off with momentum I can keep it up for the rest of the day. Hal Elrod wrote a book called the Miracle Morning. It’s a guide on how to start your day with enthusiasm and motivation. When we are hitting snooze we need to consider this, that we are actually resisting our life. You snooze, you lose so before you can start any morning ritual you’re going to have to actually wake up. Hal’s starting ritual is called the Life S.A.V.E.R.S

Silence. You can meditate or have deep breathing while you let your mind wander. It will help you clear your thoughts and reduce stress.
Affirmations. Self-thought influences your mood. Design and write out your affirmations and align them with what you want to accomplish to make an impression on your subconscious mind. You can overcome your limiting beliefs and behaviours and replace them with those that you need to succeed.
Visualization. Visualize your goals and dreams. If you don’t believe in the law of attraction, visualization can lift up your spirit and emotions and pull you toward your vision. It’s a tool to overcome self-limiting habits such as procrastination.
Exercise. It significantly boosts your energy and mental clarity. Every morning we got to get our heart rate up and fill our lungs up with oxygen. Do some yoga, go for a walk or a run or whatever works for you.
Reading. Whatever you want in life, there are countless books on how to get it. Learn from the experts who have already done what you want to do. Just 10 pages a day is approximately 18 200 page books a year.
Scribing. Write about whatever you want. Dream journal, your goals and plans, lessons learned and so on. Writing will help you capture ideas. Writing helps us think things through and understand things better.

Hal died in a horrific drunk driver accident, several times and when he woke up from his coma the doctors told him that he may never walk. His response was “Can’t change it” and everybody thought that he was crazy because he said that he will be the happiest person in a wheelchair because he is not going to let himself dwell on something that he can’t change. A few weeks later he was taking his first steps. A few years after that huge ordeal he was diagnosed with one of the most aggressive cancers. He went from zero symptoms to organ failures in just days. He wanted to tackle that cancer with a holistic approach but his doctors told him that he didn’t understand the situation. That he actually only had days to live. He asked for 24 hours before he made a decision, he wanted to research his options. He learned that the doctor was right and once again he used those three words “can’t change it!” He accepted that he had to undergo the most aggressive of chemo treatments. One that only had a 30% survival rate. He explains in his book how the Doctors had limited knowledge about how to increase his chances of survival and he explains everything that he did during that treatment to help him beat that cancer. Just throwing that out for anyone that may want to know.

Can’t change it is the three words that help him let go of the things that he cannot control. What you can change is how you feel about it. Running late and stuck in rush hour? Instead of stressing out about it you can blast the radio and just enjoy the drive because you can’t change traffic. He also has something he calls the five-minute rule. That’s the allocated time that he lets himself feel negative. That’s the only time he lets himself complain before he reminds himself that he can change how he feels. Just give five minutes to acknowledge that the negative thought is there and then let it go and try and feel something else. Choices. We can stay miserable all day long or we can do something about it.

This is not the most informative entry, I just really want to get my eyes on the prize here. Hal’s story really spoke to me. There is a YouTube channel called Impact Theory and they interview the best self help people out there. Sadhguru and Mel Robbins are my favourites. Vanessa Van Edwards was also a goodie. Anyways, we finally got our snow last night. I wish that I could get an actual camera so that I could take better quality photos.
