You can never be too Safe in Daily, Weekly, etc

It many seem my moment of feeling somewhat safe and sound in and around my apartment maybe in question. About a months ago some random guy knocked on my door trying to sale me something, having some common sense I didn't open the door, and told him I wasn't interested. So I listen to his foot steps head back down the stairs. Which made me wonder, why did he only come to my apartment which is all way on the 3rd floor to knock only on my door and no other door on my floor? However I didn't think much of it, maybe I just didn't hear him knock on the other doors.

However yesterday another random guy knocked on my door, I asked him who he was and who he was looking for? He said his name was Zack and that he wanted to talk, once again common sense didn't open the door and just told him that I was busy. Which once again I listened to his foot steps head down the stairs without knocking on any other door. So now I'm kinda feel as if maybe I'm being watched and scoped out. I mean who knows really maybe I just being extra paranoid, but you can never be too sure about these things. Plus I'm here alone majority of the time because my husband is either underway or has duty or something, so someone could have taken note of that.

However I am usually very aware of my surroundings and always have my mace with me, always watching my back and I look around before heading up the stairs to my apartment and look both ways down the hall way to make sure no kind of creeper followed me up. I mean I have lived here for two years and never really have had a reason to be looking over my shoulder. But like they always say its better to be safe then sorry, and now seems its time to step up my game a little just to be safe.

I know every night I doubt check the door to make sure that both dead bolts are locked (which I always make sure they are locked each time I enter the door), as well as the patio door and I make sure to close all windows and shades; this is my routine every night before going to bed. However to step up my game I think I should start using the alarm system that is installed in our unit. I never really bothered with it since we are on the 3rd flood, but its there should just go ahead and start using it. Further more I should keep my gun hidden but within arms reach, right now its buried somewhere in my night stand. It should be in the safe but I find more comfort having it close by but well hidden. It may all be nothing but I'm a woman and I need to keep a close eye on whats going on around me.

I had some stupid upstairs neighbors who kept trying to come into my apartment - using a key... well fumbling with a key at my locks. And that flush of fear/heat cannot be believed. Yes, the door was locked, but that sound still scared me. I finally put a HUGE picture on the door - if they can't tell the difference between a 5 (fifth floor) and a 6 (sixth floor) apartment, at least they'd see the picture and back off. Smart for not opening the door, creepy that yours is the only door they knocked on... unless they'd tried everyone else first?

I'm thinking the first random guy I maybe just didn't hear him knock on other doors, but then again the sound echos down the hall way when you someone is knocking on someones door, which makes my cats start to growl. lol However the 2nd guy I don't know about him, pretty creepy to just knock on someones door just to talk without giving a good reason or a reason at all, and I'm pretty sure he only knocked on my door. Creepy!

Random reader here, but I just wanted to say it's the worst feeling - not being able to feel safe at home. I think all women, single or otherwise left alone a lot, feel paranoid from time to time. I hope that's all it is. Best of luck to you.

Why would you be under surveillance? You doing something you shouldn't be? If not, I wouldn't worry too much.
