Me vs Companies vs The Post Office in meh...

Funny story actually…well, no. Frustrating.

Since I’ve been in this apartment (5 years now) I have been the recipient of not only my mail, but countless others that no longer live there. Most days aren’t as bad as others, but within the past few months, it’s been ridiculous. Now, I don’t fault the post office. I mean, they are just doing their jobs. They receive, sort, send out. That’s what they do. It’s not on them when someone moves, leaves, abandons, an address and they don’t leave forwarding information.

The thing that has frustrated me the most is that it seems as if these people are still out in this world making new debt for themselves and because they can’t be found, I get their mail. Certainly glad that just because I’m here doesn’t mean I have to pay their bills. Medical bills past due, credit card bills past due, all kinds of stuff.

There was a class action suit against one of the credit reporting bureaus. There were 10 notices that arrived in my mailbox and two of the notices was the same person with the name inverted. I wrote return to sender on each of them, put them in an envelope and mailed them all back to the P.O. Box with a note that said to clear the names and the address from their records. I also said “Come on now. 10 people at the same damn residence?? A 2 bedroom townhouse???” Laughable.

I kind of did the same thing today. I previously just wrote return to sender on a bunch of stuff and yesterday, I got a new stack of 4. One was actually for me, but I’m not old enough for medicare yet so No, United Healthcare. I don’t need your extra paper. You’re killing the environment and wasting your money. So I gathered the remaining ones, with a note, put them in an envelope, going to mail them off after work. The Post Office in the mall closes at 6 and I always go there. It’s awesome.

I went to the Post Office’s website to see if they can send something back. There has been a piece of certified mail that has to be signed for I guess. I’m at work. Son is at work so no one is home when the mail is delivered. It’s addressed to, again, someone that doesn’t reside in my place. I was on the website trying to find out who the letter is from and I can’t get ANY help even WITH the tracking number. So I sent a webmail (like the ones I get here at work that I have to answer-lol) asking them to send it back. I’ve reached out to the “St. Clair County” offices in Missouri and in Illinois (though the one I reached in Illinois was on Facebook and it was a parody site, because their ACTUAL website doesn’t have an email function-can you tell I don’t really like verbally speaking yet? lol). The Missouri one said they don’t have anyone by that name owing anything. Okay. Fine with me. But this letter is going back to the sender. I even took the notice they left in my mail box and wrote on IT “Return To Sender: Addressee Unknown.”

Why is this such a battle?? When I first moved here, I remember one morning, EARLY in the morning, I got a knock on my door. It was like 7 or 8. Dude was there to serve papers to someone who, surprise, DIDN’T live here. What’s funnier? This is the same guy that comes to my office to serve papers for garnishments and such to the HR department. ::smh:: This is crazy.

Oh…So the post office sent me an email today and apologized. Told me they will take extra care to only put mail addressed to ME. So I had to clarify that there are other names that are legitimate that aren’t mine and I gave him that list of names. I’m pushy, huh? lol So, I also stated that it’s not their fault because they are just doing their jobs. Plain and simple. I mean that. I don’t usually get people to hear me out, see things from my perspective, and offer solutions. This is new! lol

So other than that, nothing much going on.
It’s Friday.
It’s Opening Day.
I’m wearing a Wonder Woman tshirt.

Ready to go get some gas and take it on home.

Hope you have a great weekend.
I’ll probably be around here to tell you about it.
Love to you all…

Kindest regards,
Sister
