It’s funny how I was talking about wanting a week off from work and then, as always, that opportunity manifested itself. Except that I woke up to so much work drama on my day off that I had to go in to fix that crisis. While I was there I decided that I would go to the walk-in clinic right behind my building to get something checked out. This morning, while I was shaving I noticed a red rash on my shoulder. Then I took my shirt off and found more. Turns out that I have been stressing out enough to break into shingles. It is a viral infection so that explains the flu symptoms that I had been ignoring for a week. I make physical suffering look like a walk in the park. Honestly, if heartache was a physical pain I could take it. Anyways, I have to take leave from work. I went back there to explain the situation to Karamjeet, we worked out an action plan to get my shifts covered and she will take care of the store for me while I am gone. I called my boss and explained how I resolved the crisis from last night and that I need to take leave from work and I told him to turn around and go back to his other store because I don’t want him to risk getting his children sick. He agreed.
The crisis was that my closers from last night failed to lock the front door. Some kids walked right in and silly strung the lobby overnight. Long story short somebody has to get fired for this. There is a lot of management involved that led up to these circumstances and I was not impressed that I had to go in and force them to clean up that mess. On Monday I had the supervisor call in the broken door, it was hard to lock. The next day nobody was able to tell the service guy what needed to be fixed so he left. The management on duty at that time only needed to call me but didn’t. So then the management from last night wasn’t able to lock the door and didn’t think to call somebody in to come to fix it so they just left it unlocked. Nothing was damaged or stolen but one of our other stores was broken into a few weeks ago and was robbed and so we’ve been sprucing up our security. Somebody did not lock the back door at another one of our stores overnight and they were fired so here we are a group of dumb-dumbs dropping the ball as always.
Just as I was leaving my store I saw that my boss’s boss had pulled in. He didn’t wave back, just gave me a death glare. I don’t know what information he knows, this is something Brad wouldn’t bring up to him because he would just fire 10 people at once without hesitating. Karamjeet is not responding to my texts so it might be pretty serious. I’m stuck at home for the rest of the week so we shall see what happens now.
I have to somehow relax and not stress so that my shingles does not get worse. Am I 60? Why the fuck do I have shingles? Because of chicken pox, I know. I was the last person in my immediate family to get this so now they’re all laughing. Luckily I got to a doctor very quickly. Apparently, this is going to start to hurt like hell.
Karamjeet just got back to me, that visit went well. I’ll try and play a video game, I need to get lost in a different world.
