Down, but definitely not out - with pic of bird in blackpropaganda

I have definitely not been on top form this week.
Last weekend I had a sore throat which made it difficult to swallow - and also kept me awake at night - as I suspected it developed into a head cold with catarrh - and then my eyes were affected - red and running with crusty stuff forming - and it looked like my sinuese were affected. I called in at the health centre on Friday morning and told the receptuinist about my symptoms - and it was pretty clear people have had this - so that afternoon I picked up antibiotics from the chemist and things are improving.
So no walking in the low temperatures -luckily we were not affected too badly by the snow - just a heavy shower which got cleared away from the main roads - and some ice lying where the low sun never reaches in winter. Needless to say the snow in the south of England brought chaos. You do wonder why I news organisation send a reporter out in the snow, without a hat, to tell us things are bad. I guess we have been led astray by the mild weather up to now. At least we took comfort from the fact that we were not in the US mid-west.
At least the news of bad weather was a relief from continuous Brexit.
I see today Mrs May is saying she will Battle for Britain - I just hate these metaphors of the Second World Wat which was over seventy years ago - and just fuels the kind of xenophobia which is counterproductive. Interesting that England’s conclusive rugby victory over favourites Ireland yesterday had that feel of the superior country teaching the little upstart where they stood might echo the feelings of some Englishmen who just want Ireland leave the EU too.
Even I, who normally hate the hubris of the English rugby team found the victory well-deserved.
And the best thing about the week?
Seeing this tiny bird, the goldcrest, iin our fir tree picking out insects among the needles - wonderful to watch - there is a lot to be said for the healing powers of nature - when things look black think of the joy of seeing that small bird searching for food just to survive.

What a beautiful little bird! Sorry to hear you've been under the weather - glad you're perking up now :)

It was an excellent game of rugby; a well-deserved win! :)
