I am 5 feet and 165 lbs at the moment. I’ve always been a big girl and the lowest weight I’ve managed to maintain in the pass was 145 lbs. This time, I want my weight to go down to at least 125 lbs and maintain a weight range of 100 lbs - 125 lbs. Why am I doing this? Because I want to qualify as an egg donor by the end of the year.

That’s a strange goal, but I am really interested in doing it because I don’t plan on having children any time soon and the family I was born into is already enough for me. It sounds selfish and conceited, but another reason why I want to do it is because I really want to pass on my genes to some individual that will use the good traits he or she inherited from me to help a lot more people. How did I develop that thought? It was because when I told one of my favorite uncles that I wasn’t planning on marrying or having children, he looked at me sadly and said, “I’m sorry to hear that, sweetheart. I really wanted to see little versions of you in the future because I think they will be so amazing like you and can make a lot of difference in the world.” It was the greatest compliment I ever received from anyone so far.

I get compliments of how smart, resourceful, kind, and innovative I am, but no one else ever complimented me so sincerely that way before. It was so sincere that he also made me feel somewhat guilty for not wanting to have kids and keeping my genes to myself. Being an egg donor will help rid that guilt and hopefully help a family, or families, have a child of their own.

Anyways, to reach that goal, I’ve set 10 habit goals to make sure I reach my main goal by the end of the year, which is to qualify as an egg donor.

  • 1. WAKE UP ON THE 1st ALARM. I have a bad habit of continuously pressing the snooze button and laying in bed for more than an hour, so I need to start waking up on the 1st alarm. Start developing this habit on 01/03/2019. Must develop this habit by 03/01/2019 and maintain it throughout the whole year.

  • 2. CHANT 30 MINUTES IN THE MORNING & NIGHT. I am a Buddhist, and I enjoy chanting. Chanting also helps remind me of my goals for this year and the goals I have regarding my future. One of the main reasons people fail in achieving in their goals is because they don’t remind themselves of why they’re doing it. Start developing this habit on 01/03/2019. Must develop this habit by 03/01/2019 and maintain it throughout the whole year.

  • 3. EXERCISE IN THE MORNING. Because of work and school, I haven’t been able to exercise lately, so I need to set a time to exercise for at least 30 minutes a day in the morning. Start developing this habit on 01/03/2019. Must develop this habit by 05/01/2019 and maintain it throughout the whole year.

  • 4. BECOME FLEXITARIAN. Only eat red meat, chicken, and fish when you are eating with a company that is not vegetarian or vegan. However, you are to remain strictly vegetarian when you are eating by yourself. Start developing this habit on 01/03/2019. Must develop this habit by 04/01/2019 and maintain it throughout the whole year.

  • 5. SLEEP MORE. I honestly don’t get enough sleep because I work so much, so I need to get at least 6 hours of sleep every night. Start developing this habit on 02/01/2019. Must develop this habit by 04/01/2019 and maintain it throughout the whole year.

  • 6. READ A FEW PAGES OF A BOOK EVERYDAY. I love to read. Unfortunately, I’ve only been reading fanfiction and news articles. I need to get back into reading, because I probably haven’t read a book for enjoyment in months. The only books I’ve read last year were my textbooks, which are not that fun to read. Start developing this habit on 02/01/2019. Must develop this habit by 05/01/2019 and maintain it throughout the whole year.

  • 7. ONLY DRINK WATER. I developed a taste for drinking sweet coffee and teas this year because I did most of my work and homework at Starbucks. Thankfully, I don’t like soda, so it probably won’t be that hard. I just need to remind myself that drinking water helps flush out all the toxins in my body. Start developing this habit on 01/03/2019. Must develop this habit by 03/01/2019 and maintain it throughout the whole year.

  • 8. DO NOT EAT CANDY. Another thing I developed a taste for was candy. I normally don’t eat candy, but one of my colleagues has a jar of candy on his desk and every time I go to his office to work, I end up picking a piece from the jar whenever I feel hungry. Start developing this habit on 01/03/2019. Must develop this habit by 03/01/2019 and maintain it throughout the whole year.

  • 9. PLAN YOUR SCHEDULE AHEAD. Having a schedule helps keep you stay on track and know what is going on for the day. I must buy a physical journal, not use the electronic calendar/agenda apps on my phone, tablet, or laptop. Start developing this habit on 01/03/2019. Must develop this habit by 06/01/2019 and maintain it throughout the whole year.

  • 10. WRITE AN ENTRY EVERY DAY. Even if it’s short, I should write in my journal for at least 10 minutes a day. It doesn’t matter if the grammar sucks, but I want to develop writing again because it helps keep my mind calm. Start developing this habit on 01/03/2019. Must develop this habit by 06/01/2019 and maintain it throughout the whole year.
