My Extra 20 in The Truth (As I Know It)

Now that the summer weather has arrived and I’m getting outside and being more active, I’m REALLY feeling the 20 lbs I allowed myself to gain in the past year. I feel heavy and lethargic- like there’s an anchor around my waist. I have a relentless sweet tooth and I’m a carb craver, and as I’ve gotten older it seems that every bite of a cookie or piece of cake goes directly to my stomach. I can’t be one of those people that can have a nibble now and then. I have to go cold turkey on the sweets and carbs or else I fall off the wagon and am back to where I started. I had gotten myself down to the 163-165 range and with all of my biking was feeling really good about myself- and then boom, I lost my discipline. And as the discipline fades, the triglyceride count goes thru the roof. I have to make a real commitment to getting healthy again. It’s not only necessary for my physical health- a healthy lifestyle has a direct impact on my ability to battle my depression as well. I think I’m back on track enough mentally that now I can begin to attack my excess poundage and go cold turkey once again. I have to take advantage of the summer months and get myself started on the proper path again. The time is now.
