I don’t drive. I’ve never even tried. I live in a city with some not so kind drivers, bridges, and hourly traffic. Most roads in my area are curvy and without sidewalks. My mom drives a stick shift which I don’t think would be good for me to learn with. I can walk or bus everywhere I need to go. These are my excuses.
As most kids do, I thought about getting my permit when I turned 15, then 16, then 17, then 18. But here I am, 18 and a half years old and without a permit still. I want to learn though.
So I decided to flip the script. I started looking for a car. I figure if I can find car I’ll be motivated to get my license and I’ll be able to practice with the car I’ll have for the next while. So I found one. Then after having the listing bookmarked for weeks, it was gone. On Friday, I looked for a similar car and found one that was even better. I emailed my mom the listing and apparently, she just went in and emailed the dealer and now we have to schedule a time to look at it and frankly I wasn’t expecting this all so soon.
I’m excited, it’s a cute car. But now I have to actually get my permit, think about where I could park my car, going to the bank to actually buy the thing, it’s a lot.
My goal is to get my license and be confident enough to drive across the river by my birthday. But I won’t tell anybody so if it doesn’t happen I won’t disappoint anyone.
