Day 51 in 2018

I’m happy to report that I’m caught up on all of the ‘hard’ goals and only behind on the ‘easy’ goals. Behind is still behind, but it’s much more possible to catch up on the easy things (probably today, since Tuesday is one of my days off.)

I had some help from a Proseboxer with coding yesterday that helped a TON (thank you!) I caught up on all of the FCC challenges I was behind on and even managed to get ahead, if you can believe that! I only have 3 more challenges to do for all of February. I thought briefly about trying to throw in 11 more and catch up totally from the strep-throat-and-Padme missed days in January, but I’ve already moved the post-its and adjusted the goal posts. Trying to be a hero now is just shooting myself in the foot. I need to celebrate my adjusted success and keep moving forward.

I’m behind on writing. Aaron and I pledged to write a sentence a day, and I’ve been keeping up with that, and for a while it seemed on track to get me to my 4500 words for this month (sometimes I would get into it and write quite a bit.) Now that it’s already the 20th, it’s becoming clear I am nowhere near reaching my goal and need to write a lot of words each day to reach it. I know pnety of people have 1000-3000 DAILY goals so it shouldn’t be too hard to do it. I’m feeling slightly stuck as I was hoping I’d be a ‘discovery’ writer and that I’d fill in holes and have ideas as I wrote, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. The holes in my outline are still gaping holes. I know, and plan on, writing the scenes I DO feel sure about, but those holes are bothering me. My goal for today is to close up the holes in the first half so I can write confidently for a good long while.

My mother-in-law bought me a beautiful book for Christmas from my Amazon Wishlist. It’s about medieval manuscripts - https://www.amazon.com/Meetings-Remarkable-Manuscripts-Journeys-Medieval/dp/1594206112/. I’m hoping that some ideas gathered from this will help.

I’m also probably not going to meet my ‘Attend a Meet-up’ goal this month. I had one planned but there was a blizzard that weekend and no one was leaving their homes. There was another I was going to attend on President’s Day, but it filled up before I made up my mind. There are TWO I’m really interested in for March so I might try to do both of those in penance for missing the goal in February. I only need to do 3 in the whole year so it’s not a bad one to miss.

I’m also 100% caught up on sewing! I was worried about this client because she’s 68 which means her body might not conform to my patterns in ways that are difficult to anticipate with online measurements, but so far her measurements seem exactly like mine, and she took my advice to buy a corset for the dress to keep everything ‘where it should be’, so it should not be a problem. Beading all week - how lovely and relaxing! I plan to only put on music and try to write while beading. Create, rather than consume.

But first, I must figure out how Rylmina connects Cynan to her brooch (it’s his family heirloom, though neither of them know it) and seeks him out! I will put away this entry and turn to the blank corkboard that should be the third piece of my storyboard.
