Fear in through the looking glass.

There are two types of fear: the fear of what may come and the fear that it will come again.

These are very distinct things. One is vague, discomforting. The other is nearly unbearable, and begets ancillary fears, possibilities of suffering that could not have even been known before.

Perhaps steadier, more secure people find strength in that second type of fear, strength in knowing, in having experienced it once before. I am not one of those people.

We’re trying again.
