Residential Evil in 2017

Well, things have gotten worse.
My old roomie was in town Wednesday for a concert. We went to get sushi beforehand, and when I tried to pay, it didn’t work. Odd. She covered it thankfully. I then stopped by the cell phone repair place where my phone was at so they could replace the charging port. Card also didn’t work. Thankfully Ella loaned me the 75 bucks to pay them.
I went to an ATM, and noticed I had -340 dollars, which was…not right. I go into the bank and talk to a teller, and receive an image of a forged check in my name for 600 dollars. Well, that explains it. Worse, it has the name of my male roommate on it. Now, you may be thinking, there is no way he could be dumb enough to sneak into my room, steal a check, forge a signature that is not even close to mine, put it being issued to him, sign it himself, cash it, immediately go out and buy a 360 and games and not expect to get caught…but that is exactly what happened. This dumb motherfucker is not just a criminal, but a bad one.
Thank god Ella just happened to be visiting that day and was able to bail me out. Upon returning home, I confronted the female roomie about it, who seemed genuinely confused and upset. I talked with her a while, and learned more and more about Jessie, and how shitty he is. She was close to kicking him out, but ultimately relented. I’m not surprised. She’s pregnant with his child, and I’ve seen too many situations where women stick with manipulative, emotionally abusive men for far too long. Since he ain’t leaving, I aim to as soon as possible.
I didn’t get to confront him until the next day, he was hiding in his room before then and since. He is afraid of me, as he should be. I didn’t rip into him as much as I should have, but I let him have it a little, as well as told him to stay out of my way and not touch my shit until I leave. He offered what was surely a rehearsed, halfhearted apology lacking sincerity, which I wasn’t having any of.
I have a new bank account, and today it seems the check has been reversed, though I think the old one is still frozen. Not sure if I will press criminal charges. I’ll figure that out once I am not living there any more.
I did get to go to that concert at least. Ella bought the tickets, as well as buying me a couple of much-needed gin and tonics. It was a good show, The Dig opening for Dan Kroll. Not overly familiar with either but both were good. The lead singer of The Dig was awkwardly funny and charming, very reminiscent of Mitch Hedburg.
The only other thing to write about is a week old, almost feels like it didn’t happen. I was giving a group of girls a ride to whoever’s place around 2am. They were certainly inebriated, but nothing crazy. Jayce, clearly the leader, was super flirty, and gave me shoulder rubs during the ride, which was nice. We were joking about me being set up with her friend Ally, since the third girl was going home afterward and Jayce was on the phone with her booty call or whatever. We got there and I actually ended up hanging out. Jayce’s booty call Walter got there, and the four of us hung out for an hour or two before they split off and Ally and I split off to do our business. So yeah, first Lyft hookup. Definitely did not see that coming. Ally kept doting on me and saying there was no way I was single and that she was sure I did this all the time. She said all that, and sent a FB friend request from me to her using my phone, but never accepted it, so I dunno. I do have Jayce’s number, she said to hit her up to go to a concert. Maybe she is genuine, but I doubt it.
So yeah. Now I am definitely where I was two years ago. Friends here are drifting away, I am single, in love with someone I can’t have, and reeling from a betrayal. Though I don’t even have a place to hide from the world and feel unguarded now, so perhaps this is worse. I’ll do whatever it takes to ensure this doesn’t happen again in the future.

That is some crazy stuff! I can't believe people are stupid enough to do things like that! I would definitely press charges, but of course wait until you are out of there. You have all of the evidence. Seems like a clear cut case to prosecute. Hope you find a way to get out soon!
