The Car Crash Incident: Just when I thought I had everything taken care of, the car crash incident of a few entries back remains an issue. I’d already gone through the statements with insurance company and even (supposedly) have already been paid, though I haven’t yet seen the check. It’s in the mail.

I was called today by the insurance company because they tell me that there is a “dispute” on my claim. This, even though both parties involved are with the same insurance company! When I talked with the representative, she said that it’s very rare to have to take a statement if both parties have the same insurance, so she hesitated…and then she said, let’s go ahead and do a recorded statement just to be on the safe side.

I gave a statement and then I hung up.

And then I got to thinking - hm, are these guys going to claim that they were injured? Are they going to try to sue me?

Quite frankly, I won’t be surprised if they try.

And guys, if they do try, I just can’t imagine it! I will for sure get the 911 recording, where I’m telling the operator that the boys are trying to drive away! And that they are calling me a bitch. And that I’m scared.

I mean, WTF? What’s happening? Do I need a lawyer?

And the thing is, I’m still driving around with a crushed front bumper because I can’t even get my car into the collision center that I want to take it to because they are so freaking busy. The earliest they could get me in is Monday!

Sheesh. I know in the grand scheme of things this is a little thing, but it sure has me stressed out. I’m glad that nobody is hurt, but this is truly hurting my head.

The Side Hustle: I tell you what. I’m not sure if my timing is off, but I can’t seem to pin down my friends at the California company. Well, I say friends, but it’s really just the sales guy I’ve been working with. We were supposed to have dinner a few times - scheduled and re-scheduled and then we finally nailed down a dinner meeting last week. He’d come to my neck of the woods twice, so I agreed to go to his BFE neck of the woods this time.

Got a puppy-sitter and everything because this was going to have to be a trek for me - there and then back home.

Dude rainchecks on me.

Now. He did have a legitimate excuse - his in-laws from Florida came to stay during Hurricane Irma. So of course I was absolutely cool with the cancellation, but he hasn’t gotten back to me on a re-group and at this point, I feel like I might be bugging him.

Still, I won’t give up or take no as an answer; I just need to get more creative with my approach, and I’ve gotten friendly with the owner of the company on social media recently - as well as the VP of Marketing and Product Development, so I think what I’ll do is send a tickler of some sort to get that ball rolling again…some kind of document with a tidbit of info that will be helpful and will remind them that I’m still interested! What do you think about that?

And More Hustle: I want to tell you about this thing that I did on Sunday, but I’m running out of time and need to head to a meeting, but don’t let me forget! I did something crazy....!!!

OK, meeting time!

Yeah that was quite the teaser....like getting us to stay tuned until after the commercial break.

I'd struggle with the same question about the accident. I think it's probably a good idea to get a lawyer because your insurance company is never going to be as concerned with your best interests the way a lawyer will be. Having said that, I'm not sure I would get a lawyer if I were in the same situation because it just feels like escalating a situation.
