"Every time you spend money, you are casting a vote for the kind of world you want."
I am reading Walden by Henry David Thoreau and although it is a bit slow, I am loving the ascetic vibes. I truly wish I could abandon all traditional 21st century ideals of the good life and become one with nature and human instincts. If I was a man, I think I'd be able to more easily. Not that a woman can't. It is just more difficult in my opinion. Especially the type of woman I am. I have had my independent years and I have tried my best to maintain a solid independence, but I am truly a dependent girl. I feel so alone and bored without the company of a man. If I were with the type of man who wanted to build a cabin in the woods and hunt and grow our own food, I would easily be able to. But I'm with a man who enjoys the technological world we live in. But, I do want to try to be more self-sustaining and start purchasing things for the idea of re-using them. Not replacing them. Things that LAST. Which, sadly, is hard to do in this day and age. Everything is made to be replaced. And it does not make me happy, for I would never -choose- to live life this way. When I am in my permanent place of residence, living with the man I love, I promise to try my best to make my abode as Natalie-livable as possible. I'm pretty sure a bright aura will be dancing around and I can smile in it's rays of genuine happiness.
