Today was interesting. I worked from noon until six and actually got quite a bit done. That’s always good.
JR came by to work on some stuff. Did I mention they had the baby? He was born last week and I finally got to see Baby K on Friday. Super cute little guy! He basically slept the entire evening while I was there. I’d gone to meet him earlier in the day before I went in to work. I had called JR after we’d met with a coworker for breakfast but he wasn’t home yet. He said I could go over but there was no way that was happening without him there. Even then I waited about 15 minutes since he was on his way and still had to deal with his crazy MIL. I don’t know what it is but she rubs me the wrong way. And I only just met her a couple weeks ago! At least he was there though and he showed me the house.
He kept asking me to hang out. He mentioned he’d bought a bottle of crown and that I should stay or come over later. I used work as an excuse to leave but since he’d brought up hanging out so much I felt a bit guilty not going back. So some time after 5pm I ended up texting him to see if there weren’t a lot of people around and said I’d be over soon. Mom dropped me off since I was going to drink and when I walked up he opened the door but walked away before I stepped in. I was like, “hey this is cool! Automatic door!” Then he said he heard the car and I go, “Yeah, my mommy dropped me off” and I heard a bunch of laughter from the living room. It was a total joke but I didn’t realize people were sitting right there. haha! Oh well.
I hung out until around 9pm and it was actually quite relaxing. His cousin was there and later another cousin/her husband/two kids arrived. Another aunt/uncle came shortly after that. You know everyone’s dropping by to see the baby. He just lies there though. hah. JR was giving me a hard time for not holding him but I said I’d do it after the baby’s like a couple months old and can interact. He’s sorta boring right now. =P By the end of the night I’d gotten up to call mom to come get me after she’d texted me about drinking, and I ended up playing with the kids. JR’s step-daughter and a little cousin. I had a tiara with bright pink bows attached, a fancy plastic ring, a bracelet, and a police badge because I was the Princess Police and they were protecting me. =D I am way too cool for this adult life!
A bit later when I tried to leave the little boy, W, was saying I could come over on Sunday and insisted he needed to go ask his mom before I could leave. haha! His mom looked at me like “what the heck is going on?” lol! So cute though. I practically ran out the door to avoid hurting his feelings and/or committing to anything. I needed an afternoon like that. Who knew it would happen at JR’s house?!
I had a total light bulb moment this afternoon regarding TF, but I’m tired and do not feel like getting into it right now. The rest of this week is kinda crazy with 4th of July festivities tomorrow and several days of work meetings after that. I’m trying to take it one day at a time so I don’t get overwhelmed, but that means I might not be back to write for a while. Maybe I’ll leave notes so I don’t forget everything I want to say.
I logged on here about an hour ago [after our friends invited us to dinner and we went to the store for last minute necessities since we’re totally potlucking American style tomorrow!] and had the wonderful surprise of finding an e-mail response from the Sheriff! :)
He sent it not long after I’d gotten out of work, like close to 7, and it had way more words than I expected to find! Here I was worried that he wouldn’t even respond!
Always worrying for nothing!
His first line read: “Hello Ms. Rose,” which I found very interesting considering I go by my full name at work and also signed it that way. The email does have my first name in it, and uses only my 1st name and initial of my last name, but I’ve always gone by my full name around him. Maybe he just likes the name Rose? Mom said that he did ask to speak to Rose when he called me back this year and he did specifically ask why the computer had me only listed as Rose. I ended up having to explain the whole “first, middle, confusing same name” thing. I guess it just stuck with him. Not that I care. I only use my full name to avoid confusion at work.
So yeah, lots of words involved! Which is awesome. He didn’t give me any specifics but there were paragraphs of I know a lot of places and hints about maybe knowing celebrity chefs, and location owners, and was he trying to impress me?? haha.
He said he’d need to know more information. Like what they want to do, what they like to drink, price points, how long are they planning to stay. And “are you planning on coming up as well?” Is he going to give us a better deal if I do? ;)
You know he works in law enforcement though because there was almost an entire paragraph dedicated to NOT leaving valuables in the car because it’s touristy and burglars love to break into cars. He even capitalized the “DO NOT” stuff. ha. Poor guy. I’m not a moron! But I’ll just let him give his whole protective speech and tease him about it later.
He gave me a couple more ideas and said to message him back with all the answers to his questions and he looks forward to hearing from me soon.
After he signed his name he said, “BTW-I don’t mind you contacting me at all…I’m pretty sure you have my cell phone number too ;)” and oh the teasing he opened himself up to because there are going to be plenty of jokes about how he doesn’t call me back for weeks at a time. haha!
Now I have to work up a clever response! Also, I have to find time to actually do this because I’m going to be so busy. We’ll see how it goes.
Did I mention in here that my friend’s totally changed her mind though? hah. She’s looking into different locations and how do I tell him that I wasted his time? I mean, I’m going to admit she’s looking at other options but I am also going to ask for some of the information he’s got. I’d like to eventually make a trip out there myself so it won’t be a total waste. And if he wants to impress me with his knowledge and connections…I’m okay with that too! =]
Time for bed now though. Have a wonderful 4th of July!
