You know, I think that the first artist whose music you consciously purchased (as opposed to being a hand-me-down by a sibling or parent) is a lot like falling in love for the first time. That person is always with you no matter what, and I bought two albums (cassette tapes) shortly after I got my own little boombox. The first was Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette, and the other was Blue by LeAnn Rimes.

I saw her live shortly after that and I’ve always loved her music. I bought all of her albums the day that they came out and picked them apart. She and I are about the same age and so I’ve always felt very connected to her. I know that sound stupid, but it’s true.

She released a new album, it came out months ago around the world but was just released yesterday here in the States (even LeAnn Rimes, a country artist, is more European than I am ugh). I have to say, it’s the best thing I’ve heard since David Bowie’s new stuff. Her voice is remarkable and it’s more soul-tinged than you’d think. I would check it out.

That's Duran Duran for me. I don't listen to them nearly as much as I did as a teenager, but they've still got a special place in my heart.

I really love Duran Duran's new stuff. All You Need is Now is absolutely AWESOME.

I was all about bubblegum pop in the 90s for music. One snowy day my mother had rear ended someone at a traffic light. She was outside exchanging information and I was in the backseat with my passed out siblings. Losing my religion by R.E.M came on the radio and it was the first time music actually shook me to the core. Once something reaches your core it becomes a new piece I guess. Music drives me. I don't even know what I'm talking about actually. You do you!

I totally get this.
