I like balance.

At times, I seem to favor way too much active entertainment, or too much passive entertainment. Sometimes I’ll be so into a game like Everquest2 that I will have to specifically schedule some time at the end of the night to do something passive like watch an episode of The Wonder Years. Other times, I’ll find myself just mindlessly watching too much netflix. I’ll feel oddly restless and unable to fully relax because my mind wants something to do. If I’m smart, I deliberately balance both. I say deliberately, because left to chance, I won’t always optimize my time for MAXIMUM ENJOYMENT.

Huh, thought I had more to elaborate on this topic. It’s only one part of balancing various facets of life, but it’s important. Scheduling FunTime seems odd, but it’s better than losing enjoyment in something you’re really into due to overkill.

My job is all about staying on schedule. It's hard to switch that off and enjoy myself.

Hence why I "schedule" fun.

Our "scheduled" fun day is Sunday, my only day off. I was pretty happy yesterday when I didn't sleep the day away. We binge watched Nurse Jackie with a few episodes of House of Cards thrown in there. Oh and a trip to Lowes. Got more flowers for the garden :)

A balance of netflix binge and useful errand to get out of the house blends nicely.
