I'm dumbstruck at how long it's been! in Not-So-Hum-Dingers

Forget me trying to apologize for not writing words here for the past almost-four-months, there’s no excusing that kind of absence.

I have been doing very well, and I guess I haven’t needed to vent too much through typing.

Let’s see…I’ve lost a butt-load of weight and am now under 200 pounds for the first time since I was about 12. Eating salads (iceburg lettuce with some form of protein for lunch, and fancier mixed greens with whatever dinner we’re having at home) for most of my meals, drinking heaps of water and working my ass off doing dishes at the restaurant have made me the healthiest I have ever been.

Ashley has gotten so big, and she’s becoming such a cool little kid. It’s a whole lot of work making sure a human that you helped create learns how to be a force of good in the world. It feels like Sezzie and I are doing a pretty good job. That’s what everybody else tells us.

Work is awesome fun. It’s been extra good because all of the people that I work with are likable and interesting fellow humans. I’m still the only one who gives a sparrow’s fart about cleanliness and organization, but I’ve accepted that burden as mine to bear. For the most part everybody does their jobs quite well, and I’m pretty much always the last one out the door with whoever’s been at the helm that day.

Of course Christmas is coming up and that’s been exciting fun with a more-aware 3-year-old in the mix. We went to a Christmas party that was thrown by the spa where my mom works, and Ashley got a cool Doc McStuffins doctor kit from Santa. Sezzie and I went out and purchased a wonderful Christmas tree that will undoubtedly serve us well as our family Christmas tree for many, many years. And today we went to the restaurant’s Christmas party (a slightly buffet-style gathering). I finally have a stocking up there after working there for ten years. Everybody else has apparently had a stocking up every Christmas and customers would put gifts in them (candy, money, what-have-you) and I did not have one until Sezzie brought it up with Barb when she saw Barb prepping the stockings. I honestly didn’t think too much about it, but knowing that I work as hard as I do it feels good to finally be getting recognized like that. Little things.

I can’t think of anything else to talk about. I shaved my own face before I wrote this, and it still feels really good to be able to do that on my own even with my wonky eyes.

Yep, I’ve run out of things to say for now.
