Rain Rain...go away! in General Life

It has been an awful rainy week!

This past Sunday was the best day all week. We took the kids to Splash Country again. It was so much more relaxed this time, than last. It wasn’t as crowded this time. We ended up staying a good 4 hours, just hanging out in the pools, lazy river, wave pools, and letting Ethan ride a bunch of rides.

The rest of the week was pretty dull. It has literally rained, or more like poured, all week. There was a break in the rain on Wednesday, so we headed to the splash pad with our mom group. It was nice having some adult conversation. I love my children dearly but being stuck in the house with the two of them fighting all day makes me almost pull my hair out. It was a gloomy cloudy day, but it wasn’t raining so we took full advantage.

Thursday, since it was raining again, my husband had the day off so we took the kids to the bounce house. Everyone else had the same idea. It was nuts there. We still had a good time, but man, so many kids. So so many kids. We stayed there for about an hour and a half, and then went to the mall playground to just get away from the craziness. The mall was no better. It was still jam packed. I love summer, but at the same time I don’t. All kids are out of school and it makes anywhere you go so crowded. However, I get to be with my oldest a lot so therefore I love summer!

Our office is closed on my normal work Saturday, and since it was raining (again), my husband stayed with the kids and I opted to work a full 8 hour shift on Friday. We were so incredibly busy due to not being open on the weekend and also a holiday weekend. We are a full service clinic and a very popular kennel facility as well. We had a massive amount of people boarding their pets this weekend. I think it’s awesome that we board animals, but I absolutely hate the check in process. There are so many steps to it and so much you have to make sure you ask. It’s a pain with just one pet, but this was multiple people dropping off. Our clinic has 24,000 patients (that would be the pets) that come to us. Very many of those people board their pets with us as well. We usually never turn people away, but we had to turn people away this time. We were so full, there was no way to fit anymore animals in our office. That of course made people upset. It was all around not a very pleasant day. I did like the fact that the day flew by though! I love staying busy for that reason. The positive of the day, was there were so many adorable pups and kittens come in. You fall in love with most of the animals. You just can’t help it. Long time clients find a place in your heart. It’s hard not to get attached to your work. I don’t know what I’m going to do when I start working as a nurse. Staying detached is hard for me to do. My hopes is to work in labor and delivery one day. It’s going to be so hard for me not to become attached.

Today (Happy 4th of July!), there isn’t too much going on. It, of course, is a nasty rainy day for us. I really hope there isn’t any rain tomorrow. We are going on vacation and leaving Tuesday, so I opted to stay home and get the house in order, do plenty of snack baking for the road (I like making snack muffins to tide us over and not have to spend a lot of money buying random junk), and get all the laundry done and ready for packing. The hubs took the kids to his parent’s house, so that gives me at least 4 good hours to accomplish a lot. When they get home, we hope the rain holds off long enough to go downtown and watch the fireworks display, but it’s not looking so good for that.

We are excited for our vacation! We are going to New York City for a couple of days, and then going to Philadelphia to visit Billy’s brother (he lives there), and then finishing off our vacation visiting Billy’s uncle in Annapolis Maryland. He lives on the bay, and is going to take us deep sea fishing. Also since he lives close to Washington DC, we are going to head there for a day. I have never been there so I’m excited about that! I am as giddy as my kids about leaving for vacation! I need a break out of Tennessee.
