Surprise quick trip to the airport in Adventures in paradise

My mum organised a last-minute trip to Mt Isa a few nights ago, so I was surprised to get a phone call from her when she was almost at the airport here, asking if I wanted to catch up with her and my sister for lunch.  As it was a day off for me, it wasn't an issue for me to get there, other than having to get thew expensive airport train due to the last-minute decision to call me.  Otherwise I could have had more time to get there for 50 cents rather than $23 on the Airtrain lol.  Oh well.

I got there and went through security and found them at a cafe inside the terminal.  It was a lovely and short catch-up.  I bought an over-priced $35 steak sandwhich (thankfully I didn't pay for that one) and it wasn't that good anyway.  My mum and sister just had muffins.  I was like, "I thought we were having lunch!"

My mum told us all about her trip to Samoa that she just got back from, and it sounded like a great time.  Apparently the chief has like 8 different wives or something, and a different home to house each of them in lol.  I was like, "Why does someone need 8 wives?"  She told me how they went to a different island one day and a woman did a demonstation where she created cloth out of the wood from a tree, after a lenthy process.  She found it just fascinating.

My sister is off to Tonga soon, so the girls in my family seem to like visiting the Pacific Islands lately.

My mother will be babysitting my neice, who is a troublesome little shit.  She's on school holidays now, but has pretty much had the last two weeks off, suspended from school.  She was suspended for one week, was back for one day, and punched another boy in the face and was suspended again.  She's 6 years old.  She's been throwing rocks at the teachers.  My little brother (her dad) says that he thinks she likes the boy that she punched but doesn't know how to show it LOL.  I'm sure my mum will have her hands full with her.

We saw mum off and my sister kindly gave me a lift to DFO, but she took a wrong turn at the roundabout and I joked with her that if she kept going, we'd end up on the tarmac.  She laughed and she turned the car around and we got to DFO where I wandered around for a while, looking at the Skechers store for new shoes, although all the designs these days just seem lame to me.  I'm wanting to replace the cool blue ones I have, since they have a split down the sole, but they don't seem to make them anymore.  I looked around TK Maxx for a while too, but ended up going home empty-handed.  The bus going back was packed!  I overheard an older couple chatting with a young guy who was travelling from the Czech Republic.  He's travelled everywhere it seems, and is a "travel influencer" for his work, but was looking forward to getting back home for a bit.  When asked where he was going next, he was like, "I don't know yet!"  What a life that must be.  I think the couple were as fascinated as I was, so I must be showing my age too.

I had zero time to do my hair before leaving home, but oh well.
