Does anybody care?

I had to stay at work till 5, c-suite people don’t call the help desk. Last time they were in town one of them showed up at 4:59 to demand something and shockingly enough all of us were gone. He threw a big fit and now one of us have to stay till 5 Tues - Thursday. I picked yesterday b/c why not might as well get it over with, the other 2 will be staying on the other days.

Didn’t get to the old place until around 530. First thing I notice, my screen is off my window that is slightly open. Took a picture, while yes I did take the screen off and such, if anything is missing I’m going to blame the maintenance guy. Sucks to be him, but maybe don’t work or subcontract for such a shit company. *side note the contractors have told us several times that they hate this property management company, their boss regrets signing on with them, there’s no communication from the office or any office at all.

One time the contractor told me to contact the office with my complaints, I asked for a number to contact them. He didn’t have one. Seemed surprised I wanted one. My guy, you just told me to call them. So give me a number to call or fix the fucking problem. He fixed the problem.

Moving on.

The second thing I noticed, they had to replace the doorknob. Turns out that NO ONE has the key for that lock. The former company that they bought out didn’t have it or anyone else. The maintenance guy keeps insisting that he didn’t lock the door. Okay but you were the last person in the apartment, and I wasn’t able to get in due to the door being locked. Apparently it’s a good thing the door was unlocked when he got back because otherwise he would have had to break in and then change out the doorknob.

I went in, checked, nothing is missing. I had hopes for that, I know someone came in, but there’s nothing exciting to steal. As a young burglar I went for high priced items, fuck do I want a curtain rod for? vacuum? why would I want those things. Luckily I know shady people well enough.

Okay to be fair I did think that maybe they would have taken something, but it was a risk I was willing to take since I would have blamed the maintenance guy and that would have indirectly affected the property management company.

I did a quick sweep of the place, found 2 or 3 different drawers with more stuff we forgot. I managed to get the majority of things out of there and packed into my car. Took down the last of the curtains/rods. Put … spackle? I don’t know what it’s called, to patch the holes from where I hung the curtains. Today I’ll go back and sand that down so it’s not bumpy, not that it matters to the management company, but even shitty things I’m going to take a little bit of pride in doing something right.

There’s a few things left, but mostly it’s just cleaning. So I hope to finish up the upstairs today, then I can take care of the rest later. The kitchen is mostly clean, need to wipe out the fridge and such.

Our washer and dryer should be here today, sometime between 1230 and 430 pm, so yay?
No really, I enjoy having clean clothes. Like an idiot when I went the other day I wore my work clothes, and got them dirty, no big deal… oh right no washer or dryer. Now I remember to bring a change of clothes, some basketball shorts and a t-shirt. I don’t care if they get dirty, but also it’s 90 degrees and it was supposed to rain all week, but instead no rain just overcast and humid. So instant drenched in sweat.

My work doesn’t care if I just wear jeans and I’m okay with that, but I didn’t think this move through and most of my clothes were dirty so whoops. But I have a lot of actual business casual clothes, I just hate wearing them. So soon I can go back to jeans.

I’m looking into rental lawyers, want to see if I can sue this company for all the bullshit they keep doing, I think we have a case due to all the bullshit but I don’t actually know. In the next day or two I need to get copies of all the communications between us and them and save them somewhere, I know they will delete everything as soon as they can.

What I’d like to do is burn the place the fuck down and laugh while doing it. However, I’m no longer a crazy teenager with nothing to lose. Plus if i were to damage or destroy any property they could use their insurance and get paid for it etc. Plus a fire, there’s a row of other townhomes attached to it, I’m not friendly with them, but those people are innocent (as far as I know).

So no, I will temper my rage and anger and go the legal route. Although breaking the windows and forcing them to replace them would help the next tenant, I’m sure they will jack the price up another 1000 for the “Newly Renovated” place.

Bleh, once again here I am being the voice of reason and thinking things through instead of blindly doing whatever I feel like at the moment. Young me would be most disappointed.

What else what else?

Ashley and Dakota are leaving for a week starting on Friday coming back the next Sunday. My ‘plan’ for the weekend is actually focusing on the new place and getting things organized. Most likely I’ll just play some games but I’ll pretend I’m going to get things done. And that’s just as good as actually doing them right?

Of course depending on how much pain I’m in over the weekend I might just rest up. I cancelled DND until the 20th, so not doing that. Will be alone and not have to do anything for anyone. And then next week I don’t have any real plans besides work, so I could easily just do stuff after work. Hmm.
