You are entitled but your entitlement holds no merit in The Kid Used To Dream

I am becoming increasingly aware of what I perceive as opinion entitlement. Now, don’t get me wrong, you are entitled to have an opinion. However, your opinion only hold weight in the court of your own opinion.

I have seen on multiple occasions lately where people’s opinions have hurt their intended targets. While no one can stop you of having an opinion, that doesn’t give you the authority to consider it the absolute truth. You are not the judge and the jury of how people live their lives - so butt out and just leave your opinion to yourself.

I ultimately blame social media because there used to be a day when you only knew someone’s opinion when you read letters written to magazines or newspapers under the opinion columns. They were sickening then and even worse now.

But, opinions where not currency then for the opinionated. Now, people can stir up so much strife that their opinions can be turned into currency in the form of clicks. Then, compound their currency by ongoing other opinions commenting and arguing over what the original opinion was - that probably is or is not factual at all.

There was a day when no one really gave an opinion because they didn’t want to alienate half of their support. Now, they don’t care as long as the conversation lasts well beyond its intended time limit.

Where this gets very absurd is when it feels comfortable to have your opinion out in the open away from social media. You might find yourself walking into a store wearing a particular pair of shoes and everyone look down on you in disgust for supporting a brand. At the same time, you probably bought the shoes before the court of public opinion handed down a sentence. You probably can’t afford another pair because you were not aware the designer gave an unpopular opinion about something - and now you find yourself in the middle of it. It’s ridiculous if you think about it.

What is most fascinating is the worst criticism comes from the Christian world where they are scripturally told to keep their criticism of the person out of any conversation.

I assume it all boils down to people just not being happy. They are internally miserable and they spew that out in criticism against everything they wish they could be. Since they cannot, they portray their own hate against everyone and everything. There is an epidemic of hate running rampant around the globe.

Of course, all of this entire post is primarily an opinion too. How would I know who has the authority to criticize properly? Maybe the court of public opinion is legitimate - but it certainly feels more hatred than loving.

I don’t even need to give you permission to leave your opinion here…but you are welcome to if you just have to let it all out.
