Movies are so dark nowadays because sloppy sweatshop CGI is most obvious in well-lit scenes. It’s largely not an artistic or aesthetic choice, deluded edgelords like Zak Snyder excepted, it’s mostly just an ugly cheat by creators who are either desperate or don’t care.

And now my brain is mashing up “Even The Nights Are Better” with “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”. With the Mets a frustrating bad-but-not-interestingly-bad this year , Yacht Rock is my satellite radio go-to, not depressing baseball coverage, and I think it’s getting to me!

If you stay busy when you have stuff to do, your brain keeps getting stimulated with new information to process into ideas. If you legit rest when you don’t have stuff to do, that’s when the ideas can burst out like Venus on the half shell. It’s sorta the creative dialectic.

The weird thing about irony. deconstruction, meta-fiction, etc is that… it’s such a rich vein for exploring meaning when used to a greater end… but it’s all so dull and performative when it is the only end. It’s just a lazy way to seem clever if that’s all it is.
