Today started with rain.
And another night of Nala sleeping in her chair.
I think it is because of the ramp.
She still hates it and refuses to use it. So, if she starts on the bed and I fall asleep? She doesn’t have a way back onto the bed except for using the ramp. So… she’ll simply opt to not sleep on the bed anymore. Which… sucks for lots of reasons but… I do need to get a new mattress (I am way past needing a new mattress) and when a new mattress comes? The giant dip Nala has been relying on to get into bed won’t be there anymore. SOoooo… learn to use the ramp, Nala!
I had a tech come to the house to replace my router and his car broke down. So I didn’t get to work until 10.
LITERALLY the moment I got in, I was required to do a bunch of stuff. Including an attempt to respond to Crazy Red Light Lady’s Appeal. HAND TO GOD if the Appellate Court reverses that case, I’m quitting! A psycho rants for 16 pages about how the videos were doctored because she remembers it differently and the judge was just helping the State because he granted every objection from the State and how her Constitutional Rights were violated because she never got the chance to confront her accuser! SO MUCH of what she herself wrote should prove to the courts that she’s crazy. But I am required to respond and I laid it out. We gave her everything we had four separate times. The Judge is within his rights to grant or deny objections from either party; and when a trial for a scheduled traffic matter with video enters it’s second hour the Court is going to be more inclined to grant objections regarding repeated evidence, speculation, and straight up conspiracy. And as to “confront the accuser”? What the fuck do you think that means? Because… I was there. I represent the State. The State is your accuser. If I was there, you were confronting your accuser. Plus the police officer that pulled you over was present. So… your accuser and a witness were present. You confronted them. The fuck are you talking about? SO.... with shit like that in her demand.... honestly, if I lose this appeal, then that would be proof that I am no longer fit to be in this job.
But no time to lament or fixate because I need to prepare my entire week today so that someone else can do it. Because I have to spend tonight preparing for a jury trial. And tomorrow have a jury trial… where the Defense is a borderline Sovereign Citizen who believes that the Court is an “optional” place and if he disagrees with Court Rulings, he can just ignore them. And my problem? IN THIS current environment… convincing 6 people that there IS still law and order. Which… y’know… from the National Desk- is a harder and harder sell to make!
Question: Have you ever known someone who was trying to get pregnant but… it wasn’t working? Like… they were trying everything and just couldn’t make it work? When their friends and co-workers are having babies right and left… and they feel depressed and worse about themselves because.... it seems like everybody else is having babies and she… just… can’t. No matter how hard she tries or how much she wants to. Have you ever known someone like that? What do you say to them when they are feeling that way?

Got an e-mail from our Juvenile Attorney saying, “Why in the fuck are we prosecuting a pair of parents who DHS already took their kids away?”
RE: The school is requiring us to do so because “the kids didn’t go to school before they were removed from their parents”.
OK… but the law is already involved. We literally can’t be more involved in that case. WHY IN THE FUCK are we prosecuting parents who have already had their children removed?
Then my boss comes to see me. The District Judge is pissed that I keep saying “GIVE THESE DEFENDNATS ATTORNEYS” She literally wants my courtroom to have no attorneys being appointed because we don’t have any attorneys to appoint. SO IF WE DON’T HAVE ATTORNEYS TO APPOINT; BUT THE LAW REQUIRES THESE DEFEDANTS TO HAVE ATTORNEYS… MAYBE WE SHOULDN’T BE CHARGING THESE CRIMES? OR WE COME UP WITH A BETTER SYSTEM BESIDES “you don’t get a lawyer, have fines instead”
So now I’ve got schools pissed because we aren’t jailing up to 100 sets of parents a year. I’ve got my boss pissed because I’m demanding that Truancy cases be given attorneys. And I’ve got attorneys pissed because “The school, on paper, admitted that they didn’t follow the IEP. Why are you charging my clients with Truancy when the school didn’t even meet its obligation?”
SCHOOLS… you currently have a LOT of problems. Maybe lets work on that students violently assaulting teachers problem before we focus on “The County needs to prosecute more parents because their 15 year old walks out of school after first period” It’s fucking lunacy!
Especially with this jury trial.... it would be nice to take someone out to dinner. Just… something to do that wasn’t the job. So yeah.... while lots of guys bitch “It feels like I’m just a Free Food Dispenser on these damned dating apps”.... I’m openly stating, “In certain occasions, I wouldn’t mind being reduced to that.” Though, if I’m being truly honest… my desires in the romantic world could all be reduced to simple sentences and still be true.
