Two day work weeks should be the norm :D Thursday I spent most of the day applying to University (note to self, keep working on it), and then at noon I happened to see that there was a meeting of the Pride advisory group that afternoon- being held at my old workplace - so I left work early to attend it. It felt good to be a part of the group again (I have missed a few meetings for frustrating reasons and was feeling disengaged). Liv was there and I was happy to see her.
Friday by 10am big boss told us to leave “at lunch”.
Aside: Here’s another reason I question my supposed allism. You say “You can go home at lunch”. What does that even mean? When I eat lunch? Do you mean noon? Some other lunch related time? What time does HE eat lunch? And because I have so many questions about something that I’m positive people are going to think I’m stupid for asking, I make assumptions, and I risk getting in trouble, which causes all the anxiety. MY BRAIN IS A LOT OF FUN.
Going home at noon makes for an excellent Friday. I don’t think I mentioned that M accidentally created perfect conditions for a rat’s nest in our shed. On top of my greenhouse windows. I have been very unhappy about that, since I am now responsible for cleaning all of the windows before I can install them. So I’ve been doing that for the last few days.
But the great news is that I have 6 windows installed so far! 4 in the front wall, 2 in the back wall. The next round of work will be two more windows, and then the framing for the two french doors. Once they’re installed I have the last course of 4 windows across the top, and that wall will be complete. Once the front and back walls are done, then I can move onto the sides - I need the final height of both front and back walls in order to install the rafters, as I’d installing the windows from top to bottom on the sides.
Today M and I went to a go kart track to watch his friend’s kid race. It was an interesting outing. Not my favourite activity but it was fun to see M excited about something. He’s been really struggling lately. He has an intake appointment on Friday for getting hooked up with a therapist again and he’s pretty adamant about only talking to a psychologist this time. Hopefully he will get the help he needs.
The rest of today has been pretty good. Productive. In the personal accomplishment sense, not the capitalist sense. I cleaned the office of my plant crap (which the kitten has knocked over so much of there was dirt everywhere). Almost finished my house warming gift for Bastet. Organized my embroidery stuff now that this project is wrapping up. I roasted a chicken for lunches for the week. Hung out in the Catio with M and the cats and watched them stalk a shrew they will never reach (because fencing).
OH! OMG, this morning Valentino straight up ate a mouse. M was outside and he didn’t see the mouse outside the door, but when he opened the door to come inside, Vale darted out and grabbed the mouse before M even knew what was happening. Then I came over to see what he was exclaiming about, and tried to pull “whatever” out of Vale’s mouth, until M informed me I was pulling on a mouse. Before I could do anything else, Valentino swallowed the mouse. He’s been awfully proud of himself all day. We’re watching him for signs of illness, of course.
I have a full 5 day work week this week… I’m not sure how I am going to make it through. But Friday Bastet comes to visit for two nights, and my birthday party is on Saturday, so I have something to look forward to, to get me through the week.
Good night!
