Battles in Current Events

Tomorrow is the battle with my car. Today, I decided to take on my ribbon shirt. I spent a few hours trying to figure out that damn sewing machine. You know mansplaining? Shelaborates. I felt like that scene in Schitt’s Creek where Moira tells David to fold in the cheese. The YouTube troubleshooting gave me a headache because the problem turned out to be so obvious in the end, but was never addressed. It was such a no-brainer that nobody mentioned it once. It was as easy as folding in the cheese.

My work has a big event on Thursday and I don’t own a ribbon shirt to wear to it. The only ones I found are expensive, ugly, and only come in Big Back sizes, so I decided to teach myself how to make my own. It is far more cost-effective, I can make it have taste, and I won’t drown in it. The idea is to teach it to the kids at work.

The best-case scenario for my car is that the extra warranty I paid for will cover the issue. It wouldn’t turn off, so I had to disconnect the battery. The service department isn’t open until tomorrow, so I will have to wait and see what the verdict is. In a perfect world, they will fix it for free. They will loan me a car while they do that. This will minimize the inconvenience. If that falls through, I will become too emotionally dysregulated to function.

We took our boys to the Red River Ex yesterday. They behaved so well. They have been doing so well in group outings, and we are very proud of them. Today, I spent another glorious day inside. I need to work on that. Just watching another beautiful summer day go by. I get FOMO every single year. Everybody is busy with their families and partners. My roommate just got asked out by her crush at the gym. Damn, I need a man and all my city has to offer are they/thems. I was going to ask Jonah out on Tuesday when I volunteered at his shelter, but his boss tagged along on the community walk. He was occupied. I want to go this Tuesday again, but I don’t even know if I will have a vehicle on that day. Ugh.

Our boys, at the big work event, are carrying flags for the ceremony and doing the land acknowledgment. It’s a big deal for us because we are showcasing ourselves. Their families are coming, but they are flakes, so I am going to make sure we pick our kids up, and the families can meet us there. We ain’t doing Indian time on that day. Speaking of Indian time, the other mentor was late again on Friday. Showed up in the middle of the afternoon. He forgot to set his alarm. Or his phone is dead. How are grown ass adults like this? My coordinator is not doing a great job coordinating any of this. I keep having to boss my boss around.

Anyway, maybe I should go for a walk.
