Played a show and had a guy walk up after and asked if he could pray for me but before he did shared something with me. He looked me into the eye and said - there’s a song you are going to write that is going to be used and will change your life.
I so much appreciate these spiritual encounters. Especially when it comes from people that you’ve never met and it confirms what you are doing when no one is looking.
Anyway - I was checking into my hotel and the guy behind the counter mistook me for someone who like to small talk. He had a small fact about every question I answered. I was just there to check in the crew and he was asking everyone’s name and tying their last names to some historic fact. It was entertaining but annoying at the same time. I walked away feeling like he needed a friend. I gave him his time and space. I appreciated all he was doing to get us checked in. He was obviously made for the job at the front desk.
Every small encounter makes the journey worth it. As much as I wanted to walk away I felt it was important to let him have his moment. We did do some small talk. He told me what kind of music he liked - wanted to know what instruments I play.
I’m laying in bed - freezing because this A/C is stuck on ice maker mode. I don’t want to call the front desk - because. It’s so cold the floor feels wet and this isn’t even a cheap hotel. The again, I did just eat a cup of ice. Maybe that’s why it’s colder than it should be. Come to find out - it’s me not the A/C ..well, I’ll be.
Hot shower it is … I wonder what small encounter I’ll experience tomorrow. This place does offer free breakfast and there’s always interesting characters at the buffet fighting over the fake eggs.
