1300 hours… the deadline for the phone call… came and passed. The field tech from the manufacturer failed to get in contact with me, and the client was gnawing at the door demanding answers. Sorry… I can’t force people to do their job’s but I can promise to keep on top of the issue as best as I can.
With the trials and tribulations of clients and vendors, then physical hardware that is sitting on my workbench… the day will indeed be testing. Lets add in an electrical fire for good measure.
But the thoughts of the day led back to the conversation I had with Hector last night… What is MY purpose? A redneck, mild mannered kid, that has a background in Sociology and Religious Studies that is a network engineer.
As a young computer guy back in the late 90’s early 2000’s I was very pro Microsoft anti Apple in my thoughts and ideologies. Mainly my issues with Apple were that finding devices easily that would connect to a Mac was nearly impossible in the small yet bustling town I grew up in. This compounded with the price gap denied me much interaction with Macs minus the one in my middle school “main” classroom. They were simple from my point of view to use, but not easy for that rush paper that had to be printed.... but was saved on your floppy disk…
I don’t have an answer.... but I do have the question at least… for now stuck forefront in my thoughts....
