My birthday didn’t go quite as planned.
We went to Metro Diner for the first time. I got the Carolina Shrimp N Grits. Two fried grit cakes with a moat of white gravy chock full of shrimp and andouille sausage. It was so good but couldn’t finish it. Came back home for a few to get cash and headed to the Jones Valley shopping center.

Picked up candy for the film at the Dollar Store. Used my gift cards at Barnes And Nobel for two Colson Whitehead books and The Things They Carried.

Went to see the new Ant-Man at 12:30. It was good but there were a few really hokey things in it. If only they kept M.O.D.O.K.’s mask on and didn’t show that horrible CGI of Cory Stoll’s face.

We went to Wal-Mart after and I picked up God of War: Ragnarok. Haven’t started it yet. From there we headed home. Still too full from the breakfast we had Sonic’s chilli dogs for a quick fix dinner. Connor’s was put on hold.

Yesterday I made breakfast. Bacon, scrambled eggs with a strawberry and blue berry parfait. It was delicious. First stop was The Neighborhood Thrift Store. That place was filthy! I needed a shot after leaving there. shudder

Bridge Street shopping center was next. We meandered around for a while. There was a guy hooked up to a sound system playing accordion. Kinda cool but he wasn’t playing long enough. Snippet here, snippet there, liked the sound of his own voice.

We had to wait thirty minutes for Connor’s. Note to self, call in reservation next time. I had lobster bisque soup, Asiago creamed spinach with an espresso rubbed 14 oz ribeye that came with an espresso based dipping sauce. The first few bites I put my fork and knife down, slowly chewed with my eyes closed and take in a deep breath. Best ribeye I have ever had.

After, we came home and chilled for the rest of the day. I cashed in the Amazon cards I got for Christmas on (I think) the last five Terry Pratchett books I need.

Today, I made another bacon and egg breakfast sans the fruit. It was errands day. I’m slowly building my savings back up. Got some charcoal and a Cesar salad mix ‘cause I’m making chicken Cesar wraps tonight for dinner.

The weather has been fantastic the last few days. Sunny. Warm with a nice breeze. Gah! Love it! They’re talking low 80’s tomorrow. Went for a good walk after we got home from the errands. I’m a bit tired now.

All in all things feel good right now. I wanna stay here, in this place.

Food sounds amazing!

I agree with Night Owl, you should be saving some money for emergencies. Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey said have 1000 in savings account to start with, for those surprise expenditures, and then upwards of 6 monthes saved for rent, bills, food, etc, so you can survive between jobs.

I know friend. I've been "between" jobs since October.
