I’ll be sending out my first Amazon FBA shipment today. Though it’s taken longer time wise than I would have liked I know it will be faster over time.... and with better tools. The thing about better tools is they cost money and right now I don’t have much into it..... Sourcing books $11.00 @ GoodWill, $12.95 @ DollarTree, and some books that McKay’s didn’t take last time we took books. Rocky thought I could list them and I haven’t because I can’t imagine single used books would sell good in a “Yard Sale” environment. I spent $10 total in barcode stickers and box labels. I also used some of the money ($10) I have sitting on Mercari to purchase a USB barcode reader.

The person I got this whole thing from recommends 2 apps to get the job done faster. I have full intention of purchasing said apps.... however, I’m not dumb.... I won’t be doing that till the business can sustain the monthly charges and still make profit. The first will have to be going to a Pro account on Amazon. Currently, they are going to charge me $1 for each book sold. This is an alternative option to $40 a month that I took because I don’t want to spend the money if I can’t sell books. This first shipment is only 22 books. Each sourced at $2 or less and most selling for $7-10.... this box, if sold, should net $150?ish.... I’m looking to make back the $44 I have in getting started.

We’d put all the books in a box and weighed it to be sure we didn’t go over the 50lb. limit. It’s about half that. Rocky packed it like he was playing Tetris and honestly I’m having trouble replicating it.... so he’ll have to help me finish it up. I then took off all stickers and wiped off and dirt I could. Then, I dove into the long process that is logging inventory into Amazon Seller Central. I honestly thought finding inventory was pretty tedious but putting it in was worse.... except I got to sit and not get dizzy like I did sourcing at Good Will Saturday. Then, labeling everything.... and having to research how to make a SKU .... mostly education has slowed me down.... but I won’t have to do that again. One of the higher points of education, once you know something.... it’s useful and you don’t have to learn it again. lol..... Anyways, It took me from roughly 5 to like 8pm to get the 22 books situated. This morning I printed the item labels and got them on and I’m down to box weight.... after I get Rocky to repack it .... It will only be moments till it’s ready to ship.

I’m super excited and honestly ready to go to some other stores today if Rocky is okay with it. .... Or go through our books and pull out ones that we don’t need/want.... I mean 10,000 Drinks was a fun book to own in my late 20’s.... but I would swear it hasn’t moved since we bought the house (2016).

BTW.... named the business with a random generator I’d found while prepping D&D.... Under The Covers. Cute huh.... like could be books.... could be adult toys. lol I love it :) All goes well I’ll have to figure out how to register as an actual business… taxes and all. For now though.... let’s just make this start up money back.
