  1. The Youtube Algorithm. A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

  2. Sometimes you have to step back and ask yourself: what are you programming yourself to be? The media you consume, that’s how you’re programming yourself. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, if you’re conscious of it, but you have to understand, that’s what you’re doing.

  3. In the Potter reunion, you aren’t “seeing Harry & Hermoine again as adults!” that’s just the actors who played them. When Betty White passed, the Golden Girls didn’t tearfully reunite in heaven, the actresses didn’t even get along well. Your head canon does not subsume real life.

  4. While it is pretty obvious at this point that Star Trek & Star Wars both need to just end for their own good, neither is as emptied out of all ideas & passion & potential as the James Bond franchise. There’s nothing interesting there to mine and there hasn’t been for a long time.

  5. Hopefully, if nothing else, the pandemic has taught us how blissful it is to not have to pretend to care about awards shows. Grammys indefinitely postponed? Hell yeah! Oscars, Emmys, join the party! Golden Globes? Well, we stopped caring about you even before the plague. Sorry.

  6. You’re so much more than a category that fits one of your traits. You’re so much more than a collection of all the categories that apply to you. You’re you. You’re a vanishingly brief unique node of consciousness. Revel in complexity, revel in contradiction, revel in indefinability.

  7. Ah, the pope. He knows his organization can only recruit via procreation at this point in its… checkered history… so he’s ragging on loving your kitties and doggies in impotent frustration. It’s a hell of a thing when the powerful feel it slipping out from under.

  8. If you have a family tradition of piloting trains, does that make you a genetic engineer?
